FastJet to lease five Airbus A319s in order to start operations in October

FastJet (Fastjet.com) (Accra) has selected the Airbus A319 to launch regional services in Africa. Rubicon Diversified Investments PLC, will operate FastJet under a brand licence agreement with easyGroup Holdings Limited, founded by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

FastJet plans to add at least five leased Airbus A319 aircraft to the fleet within six months of its launch and up to 15 within a year.

The first A319 will be leased from Nomura Babcock Brown Co., Ltd. (BBAM Aircraft Management LLC), and is scheduled for delivery in September/October.

According to this report by 4-Trader, “Rubicon announced on June 29 the successful completion of its deal with Lonrho Aviation and its airline Fly540, providing the merged group with existing aviation platforms in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Angola. Lonrho Plc owns 74.9% of the London-listed aviation business and Stelios’ easyGroup will own 5%.”

Therefore Fly540 will get new aircraft and will be renamed as FastJet.
