Iceland Express drops the New York route

Iceland Express (Reykjavik) has dropped the Keflavik-New York route. With the demise of Astraeus Airlines on November 21, Holidays-Czech Airlines started operating its two Airbus A320s for Iceland Express on the following day. The A320s would need to make a fuel stop going to New York.

Meanwhile Iceland Express is moving ahead to acquire its own AOC and will operate its own aircraft by April 1, 2012 according to a report by Iceland Review.

Iceland is becoming a demand destination and new flights are being added. Norwegian Air Shuttle is planning an Oslo-Keflavik route (three times a week) starting in June 2012 according to Iceland Review.
