United Airlines expects its new pilot contract will add over $8 billion in costs

United Airlines, according CEO Scott Kirby, is offering its pilots a new contract of over $8 billion in cumulative increases in pay and benefits over four years, possibly the biggest labor deal by a major American airline, if ratified by the union.

Expect other airline pilots unions to seek similar contracts.

Also expect higher air fares.
