AlbaStar to open regular services to Dubai from Trapani

AlbaStar is planning to open a new twice-weekly route from Trapani to Dubai. Flights will be operated from October 7, 2021 through March 24, 2022.

Trapani is the airline’s third operational base in Italy.

The Spanish airline continues to invest in Trapani with its nonstop connections to Cuneo, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, as well as flights to Parma, Naples and Brindisi.

AlbaStar operates “Nowhere Flight Sicily” over Sicily

“Nowhere Flight Sicily”, operated by AlbaStar, was an exclusive Trapani to Trapani nowher flight with a chef onboard, a showman and a DJ with a saxophonist and percussionist. All this mixed with nice food and wines.

Flight 923 was operated by Boeing 737-81B EC-NAB and lasted one hour and 42 minutes at sunset.

Chef Nicola Sammartano designed a menu with the stunning flavors of the island region.

The three course meal was served with three different white wines.

Sasa’ Salvaggio did several sketches.
Later a saxophonist and a percussionist did a show making nice music of the present and past.
Most of passengers bought the ticket of the special flight to nowhere on the airline website at 69€ each.

AlbaStar celebrates 10 years of operations

Ten candles for AlbaStar. On July 31st the Spanish company with a Sicilian heart, as Daniela Caruso – President of the airline – says, celebrated its ten years of flights in Trapani. In fact, on July 31, 2010 a Boeing 737-400 flew from Palma de Mallorca to Milan Malpensa.


Trapani is now a new base, with a Boeing 737-800 jetliner permanently based there, operating every morning to Rome Fiumicino. This service is all year round. From Rome it is back in the evening and there are connections with flights to Lourdes. In addition to the well-known seasonal routes are operated twice-weekly flights to Cuneo and Milan Malpensa on Mondays and Fridays.
“Trapani is a new challenge for us”, Daniela Caruso wanted to specify, “in the future we want to expand the number of routes”.

In 2019 with six aircraft, AlbaStar had a turnover of more than 100 million €, a very respectable result. It was possible to do so, because liners wre used mostly on the leisure market and a smal part on regular flights. This year the turning point with a greater commitment on the regular flights  market, thanks to the identification of some market niches in Italy.
During the period of COVID-19, it has operated on demand flights on the repatriation flights segment, reaching South Africa with two rotations. The first was to Johannesburg and then on Cape Town, both with a refueling stop in Cameroon. But also Zanzibar, Mombasa and Egypt.
In the ten years, the fleet was built to 6 Boeing 737-400s, then almost totally replaced with five 189-seat Boeing 737-800s. A single Boeing 737-400 is still in the fleet with 170 seats on board.
In ten years, over three million passengers have been transported, more than 66,500 flight hours.
220 people are currently employed.
On the latter factor Daniela Caruso stressed “We have reached the 10-year milestone, I hope that AlbaStar will fly into the future with my children and grandchildren driving, for their own good, the employees and Sicily”

AlbaStar adds its first Boeing 737-400 freighter

AlbaStar ( (Palma de Mallorca) is now branching into cargo operations as it adds its first Boeing 737-400 freighter. After a very long overhaul period (about four months) AlbaStar has taken delivery of 737-4B7 (F) EC-LKB (msn 24559). The freighter made its acceptance flight on January 13. The aircraft is the former EC-KKJ of Flyant Cargo, in storage at Palma since the fall of 2008 (Saicus Air did not take up the aircraft).

Spanish upstart AlbaStar acquires its first aircraft

AlbaStar (Palma de Mallorca) is a new Spanish airline which has taken delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-400, formerly operated by Hola Airlines with the same registration (EC-LAV).

AlbaStar has been set up by former LTE and MyAir staff led by Michael Harrington, the former CEO of LTE. The new airline plans to base this first aircraft at Milan (Malpensa).
