Sunrise Airways expands its jet operations

Starting November 28, 2017, Sunrise Airways of Haiti will launch its first flight from Port-au-Prince to Curaçao.

The Haitian carrier issued this statement:

Haiti-based Sunrise Airways announced its intent to launch new nonstop service between its hub at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince (PAP) and Hato International Airport in Curacao (CUR) beginning November 28, 2017. The new twice-weekly service is the carrier’s first-ever flights to/from Curacao.

Sunrise Airways will deploy both its Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320 aircraft on its new Curacao route. Both aircraft feature two classes of service – business and economy. Maximum seating for the Boeing 737 is 168 passengers (18 seats in business class, 150 in economy), while the Airbus A320 can accommodate a total of 150 passengers (12 seats in business class, 138 in economy).

Previously the carrier started four flights a week service to Orlando on October 18, 2017.

The new flag carrier will also commence Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien flights to Miami starting on December 16, 2017.

Sunrise Airways has a successful first year, plans to expand more internationally

Sunrise Airways (Port-au-Prince) as the new flag carrier of Haiti celebrated its first anniversary. The young carrier launched operations on December 20, 2012.

Sunrise continues to expand. Sunrise added service to Santo Domingo. It launched regular flights between Port-au-Prince, Haiti and La Isabella International Airport (JBQ) in Santo Domingo on November 15, 2013.

Santo Domingo becomes the third international route launched by Sunrise Airways in 2013. The carrier initiated new service between Cap Haitien and Providenciales, Turks & Caicos on August 26, 2013. Sunrise Airways flights between Port-au-Prince and Holguín, Cuba were launched on November 1, 2013.

New service to Havana and Santiago in Cuba is being planned.

Sunrise Airways is owned by noted Haitian businessman and philanthropist, Philippe Bayard and operates 19-passenger BAe Jetstream 32s.
