Avelo Airlines lands in Binghamton with two nonstop routes to Florida

Avelo Airlines announced today it will begin serving Binghamton, New York this fall with nonstop service to two popular Floridadestinations: Orlando and Fort Myers.

When service begins November 16, Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop flights from New York’s Southern Tier to The Sunshine State.

 

The new routes will operate twice weekly on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Southwest Airlines increases its Florida flights with the new early 2016 schedule

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) is giving its customers a first look at its early 2016 flight schedule by extending it from January 6 through March 8, 2016.

 

The schedule extension brings new seasonal nonstop service, including once-daily flights connecting Phoenix with Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, and Grand Rapids with Tampa.

For the first time, the carrier will offer new daily seasonal service between Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and Nashville, as well as new Saturday-only seasonal service between RSW and four cities: Buffalo, Dallas Love Field, Providence, and Washington (Reagan National). Daily seasonal nonstop service between Grand Rapids and Fort Myers also returns with this schedule release.

Southwest is offering seasonal Saturday-only nonstop service connecting Orlando with Omaha, Detroit and Orlando, as well as Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood with Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Frontier Airlines to add two more routes from Cincinnati

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) has announced two additional routes from its expanding operations at Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). The carrier will add new routes to Atlanta and Fort Myers starting on April 30.

JetBlue Airways adds three new routes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport today

JetBlue Airways (New York) today (December 18) adds three more nonstop routes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), all to Florida: Fort Myers (RSW), Jacksonville (JAX) and West Palm Beach (PBI). Service to Jacksonville is twice daily, while Fort Myers and West Palm Beach will enjoy daily service. During the holiday season from December 19 to January 4, 2015, JetBlue will offer a second daily service to both Fort Myers and West Palm Beach.

This year, JetBlue has significantly increased its presence at Reagan National, adding a total of six routes and also increasing frequencies in existing markets. Earlier this year, flights to Charleston, SC (CHS), Hartford, Conn. (BDL) and Nassau, Bahamas (NAS) were launched, and service to Tampa, Fla. (TPA), was boosted with a second daily flight.

JetBlue now offers nonstop flights to 11 cities: Boston, Charleston, Hartford, Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Nassau, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach, as well as the only nonstop service to San Juan, Puerto Rico. To support its expanded flight schedule in Washington, JetBlue recently relocated its operations into Reagan National’s Terminal B.

United to drop four more routes from Cleveland

United Airlines (Chicago) continues to downsize its Cleveland station, creating new opportunities for other carriers. On March 5, 2015, the carrier will drop the route to Dallas/Fort Worth, followed by Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Fort Myers and Tampa in Florida on April 7, 2015 according to Airline Route.

Sun Country to fly twice-weekly Fort Myers-San Juan flights next summer

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) will operate twice-weekly flights between Fort Myers, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico from May 3 through August 23, 2015. The seasonal non-hub route will be operated with Boeing 737-700 aircraft per Airline Route.

Frontier Airlines adds more routes from Chicago O’Hare and more service from Cleveland

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) has announced it will again expand its flights from Chicago O’Hare to Phoenix, Arizona and Salt Lake City, Utah as well as between Memphis, Tennessee and Dallas/Ft.Worth, Texas effective October 26.

Frontier Airlines will now 12 cities from Chicago O’Hare and three destinations from Memphis International Airport.

Following is the schedule for Frontier’s new nonstop service (all effective October 26):

Chicago-O’Hare to Phoenix is daily with Airbus A320s

Chicago-O’Hare to Salt Lake is daily with A320s

Dallas/Ft. Worth to Memphis is operated except Saturdays with Airbus A319s

Additionally Frontier Airlines is again expanding its service to and from Cleveland with more flights to recently launched including Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix, Arizona, Orlando, Florida and Fort Myers, Florida beginning on October 26.

Beginning October 26, service from Cleveland will increase as follows:

Las Vegas – increase from flights twice weekly to daily service

Phoenix – increase from twice weekly to four flights a week

Orlando – increase from daily flights to twelve times per a week

Fort Myers – increase from four flights per week to six times per week, and in December increase to daily service

Frontier Airlines to introduce St. Louis-Fort Myers flights on October 3

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) is planning to introduce a new route connecting St. Louis with Fort Myers, Florida starting on October 3, initially with two flights a week per Airline Route. This will be bumped up to three flights a week from November 17. The new route will be operated with Airbus A319s.

JetBlue Airways announces two new routes from Washington Reagan National Airport

JetBlue Airways (New York) today announced two new nonstop routes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to Fort Myers (RSW) and West Palm Beach (PBI) in Florida. The two routes will launch on December 18, 2014 and operate during the winter season. The airline today also launched three new routes from DCA to Charleston, SC (CHS), Hartford/Springfield (BDL) and Nassau, Bahamas (NAS). Additionally, JetBlue will boost its existing service to Tampa, Florida, with a second daily flight effective July 2, 2014.

The new routes and increased frequency follow the allocation of 12 slot pairs to JetBlue by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a result of divestitures from the American Airlines-US Airways merger. More flights will be announced this summer as JetBlue continues to ramp up its presence at DCA.

JetBlue entered the Reagan National market in 2010, becoming the airline’s 62nd destination. With the three new routes launched today, the airline now offers 24 daily flights, with service to Boston, Charleston, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Hartford/Springfield, Nassau, Orlando and Tampa, as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico. New service to Ft Myers and West Palm Beach will both launch on December 18, 2014. JetBlue will operate up to 30 roundtrips per day at DCA by the end of 2014.

Spirit Airlines to add two routes this winter from Latrobe

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has announced it is starting new seasonal service between Arnold Palmer Regional Airport serving Latrobe (near Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania (LBE) and two additional Florida cities – Tampa (TPA) and Fort Myers (RSW) starting on December 18, 2014.

These nonstop seasonal flights are in addition to Spirit’s regular, year-round service to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Orlando.
