De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited has announced that Widerรธe Asset AS (Widerรธe) of Norway has signed an agreement to incorporate De Havilland Canadaโs Extended Service Program PLUSย (โESPย PLUSโ) on ten Dash 8-100 aircraft operated by Widerรธeโs Flyveselskap AS.
Widerรธe has also booked ESPย PLUSย options for another ten Dash 8-100 aircraft. Under the ESPย PLUSย agreement, the service life of the robust Dash 8-100 aircraft will be increased to 160,000 flight cycles. The aircraft previously underwent an ESP to increase their service life from the original 80,000 flight cycles to 120,000.
Widerรธe is the largest regional airline in Scandinavia, carrying approximately 2.8 million passengers annually and serving more than 40 domestic and international destinations.
The ESPย PLUSย is the result of several structural and engineering analyses that utilized fatigue and test data accumulated on Dash 8-100 aircraft along with service data analysis on the current ESP Program. The ESPย PLUSย is initiated through a Service Bulletin that refers to a new Maintenance Program Supplement. Widerรธe will incorporate the Service Bulletin and Maintenance Program Supplement and arrange for the replacement of some structural and systems components as identified by the Service Bulletin.
An Extended Service Program is also available for the De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 aircraft.
Widerรธe will restore the Bergen – London (Heathrow) route on May 20, 2021. The restored route will operate six days a week with Embraer E190-E2s (below).
The airline announced on social media:
From May 20, we will be flying directly to London Heathrow with daily tours (except Saturday).

Widerรธe today (April 24) became the first airline in the world to put the new Embraer E190-E2 into revenue service.
The brand new aircraft type was introduced on flight WF622 this morning on theย Bergen-Tromsรธ route.
Embraer made this announcement:
Widerรธe, Scandinavia’s largest regional airline, completed the first scheduled passenger flight of an Embraer E190-E2 this morning, April 24. The aircraft, registered LN-WEA and operating as flight WF622, departed Bergen Airport on time at 7:35 AM and arrived at Tromsรธ Airport two hours later at 9:35 AM local time. The flight was sold out.
Today’s flight marks the official entry into service of the first of three new E-Jets E2s that Embraer has developed to succeed its first-generation E-Jets. Deliveries of the larger E195-E2 are planned to start in 2019, and in 2021 for the smaller E175-E2.
Widerรธe passengers experienced a quiet, environmentally-friendly flight on the 672 nm sector. The E190-E2 has the lowest external noise and emissions levels of any aircraft in its category and burns 17.3% less fuel than the current-generation E190.
The completely redesigned and pleasant E2 cabin interior features new acoustic treatments, an improved quiet air conditioning system and more stowage space. In some flight conditions, cabin noise levels in the E2 are 50% lower than in the main competitor.
The lowest community noise margins in the airline industry were achieved through a combination of low-drag and low-noise airframe design with outstanding field performance. These features reduce required engine thrust making the E2 much quieter during approach and take-off.
Widerรธe will receive two more E190-E2s this year. It holds purchase rights for an additional 12 E2s. The total value of the order is approximately USD 873 million if all rights are exercised.
For the E-Jets program alone, Embraer has logged more than 1,800 orders and 1,400 deliveries, redefining the traditional concept of regional aircraft by operating across a range of business applications.
Embraer and Widerรธe, Scandinaviaโs largest regional airline, celebrated the delivery of the manufacturerโs first production E190-E2 today at a ceremony at Embraerโs facility in Sรฃo Josรฉ dos Campos. The Norwegian airline will start flying the new aircraft on domestic routes later this month.
The E190-E2 is the first of three new-generation aircraft seating from 80 to 146-seat E-Jets to be introduced through 2021. Widerรธeโs E190-E2 is configured with 114 seats in a single-class layout. Widerรธe has contracted for up to 15 E-Jets E2s – three firm E190-E2 orders and purchase rights for an additional 12 E2s. The total value of the order is approximately USD 873 million if all rights are exercised.
The E190-E2 received Type Certification on February 28. It is the first time an aircraft program with the level of complexity of the E2 has received Type Certificates simultaneously from three major worldwide authorities: Brazilโs Civil Aviation Agency (Agรชncia Nacional de Aviaรงรฃo Civil โ ANAC), the FAA (the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
The E190-E2 features new ultra-high bypass ratio engines and a completely new wing and landing gear. Compared to the first-generation E190, 75% of the aircraft systems are new. Embraer recently announced some final flight tests results confirming the E2 as the most efficient single-aisle aircraft on the market. In fuel consumption, the E190-E2 proved to be 1.3% better than originally expected, a 17.3% improvement compared to the current- generation E190. The E190-E2 is also the aircraft with the lowest level of external noise and emissions in the segment. Flight test results also confirmed the E190-E2 to be better than its original specification in takeoff performance. The aircraftโs range from airports with hot-and-high conditions, such as Denver and Mexico City, increases by 600 nm compared to current generation aircraft. Its range from airports with short runways, such as London City, also increases by more than 1,000 nm allowing the aircraft to reach destinations like Moscow and the north of Africa.
The E190-E2 will also have the longest maintenance intervals among single-aisle aircraft with 10,000 flight hours for basic checks and no calendar limit for typical utilization. This means an additional 15 days of aircraft utilization over ten years compared to current generation E-Jets. Another key gain is with pilot transition training time. Pilots of current-generation E-Jets will need only 2.5 days of training and no full flight simulator to be qualified to fly an E2.
Widerรธeโs E190-E2 fleet will have the support of the Flight Hour Pool Program which covers more than 300 key rotable components. Embraerโs Flight Hour Pool Program, which currently supports more than 40 airlines worldwide, is designed to allow airlines to minimize their upfront investment in expensive repairable inventories and resources and take advantage of Embraerโs technical expertise and vast component repair service provider network. This results in significant savings in repair and inventory carrying costs, reduction in required warehouse space, and the elimination of resources required for repair management, all while providing guaranteed performance levels.
Embraer is the worldโs leading manufacturer of commercial jets with up to 150 seats. The Company has 100 customers from all over the world operating the ERJ and the E-Jet families of aircraft.
