JSX files lawsuit against Orange County Airport

JSX has issued this statement:

JSX www.jsx.com (Delux Public Charter, LLC) filed a lawsuit in the United States Central District Court-Southern Division against Orange County, CA and John Wayne Airport (aka airport code: SNA) and Airport Director Barry Rondinella to, among other things, enjoin them from attempting to ban JSX from operating at JWA. JSX has safely and successfully flown from and to SNA since June 2018 (Case 8:20-cv-02344).

JSX is a hop-on jet service that serves a massive and underserved need for quick, hassle-free, affordable, and crowd-free air transportation in a manner that is faster and safer than driving. During the pandemic, JSX has provided essential workers and those needing to travel a safe alternative to commercial air  travel  across the Western U.S. and Texas.

On November 19, 2020, despite assurances to the contrary and despite his own recommendation on November 3rd to award passenger allocations to JSX in 2021, Rondinella, on behalf of JWA, sent a letter to Alex Wilcox, CEO of JSX, advising him that effective January 1, 2021, JSX would no longer be allowed to operate at JWA. Prior to that letter, JWA had prohibited the two fixed based operators in the private terminal (“FBOs”) at JWA from working with JSX through a lease amendment. The JWA letter refuses to provide any accommodation for JSX to continue to fly and illegally impacts JSX’s schedules, routes and service in violation of federal law and the JWA Access Plan.

JSX CEO Alex Wilcox states, “JSX is the highest rated air service in the country. Our business model represents the apogee in the evolution of air travel that Congress intended by enacting a detailed federal statutory and regulatory system governing aviation to assure access to the airport and competition . Under that federal system, JWA’s recent termination of JSX existing service at JWA will cause JSX, its customers, and the general public irreparable harm and is illegal, patently unconstitutional, and anti-competitive.” In particular, the precipitous action taken by JWA before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays operates to unlawfully deny JSX and its customers access to routes and to JSX’s unique model of service, often to otherwise unserved routes.

Several other airport directors, counties, residents, and businesses have in the past week contacted JWA and Director Rondinella to voice their strong opposition to JWA’s Access Plan and termination of JSX services at JWA. All are in unanimous support of JSX’s continued access, services, and routes at JWA and elsewhere in 2021.

Wilcox adds, “I am hopeful that the Board will see that they have been led astray and will take quick corrective action to avoid a protracted legal battle that, among other things,  potentially calls into question the continued viability of the JWA Access Plan and certain other requisite conditions to Federal entitlements.”

To ironically paraphrase John Wayne himself, ‘We didn’t pick this fight, but we aren’t going to back down from it and we aren’t going to lose.’

JSX to start two new routes from Dallas Love Field

JSX has moved their headquarters to Dallas.

As a result, JSX has announced they are adding new routes from Dallas Love Field (DAL) to Las Vegas on Fridays beginning today (June 19). Return flights from Las Vegas to DAL are operated on Sundays.

The carrier is also adding flights from Dallas to Pinehurst, North Carolina on June 25. A Pinehurst to White Plains, NY is also being added on the same day.

On July 2 the carrier will add two new routes to Monterey, CA from both Burbank/Hollywood and Orange County.

JetSuite files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization

Superior Air Charter dba JetSuite Air (JetSuite) has voluntarily filed for relief under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on April 28, 2020.

Chief Restructuring Officer Ted Gavin, CTP of Gavin/Solmonese LLC said “JetSuite has always done its best to honor its commitments to customers throughout its exemplary history, and JetSuite leadership has spent and will continue to spend enormous time and effort pursuing strategic and financial alternatives to restart operations.

Unfortunately, the global circumstances brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic have caused JetSuite’s revenues to drop to near zero, and the carnage across the economy and in the aviation industry in particular is well reported and has no clear end in sight, so we have made the regrettable but necessary decision to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.”

JetSuite has safely operated over 111,000 flights since 2009. It will seek bankruptcy protection to reorganize, preserve and maximize the value of its assets, and potentially resume operations.

Note: On April 15, 2020, the company announced it was grounding the entire JetSuite fleet due to decreased demand because of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Previously on April 5, 2016 JetSuite announced a new subsidiary called JetSuiteX, since then renamed JSX.

JSX began by offering scheduled flights as a Part 135 on-demand charter operator with DOT Commuter Authority between Concord Buchanan Field Airport (CA), Bob Hope (Burbank) Airport (CA), Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (CA) , Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (NV), Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (MT) and starting October 17, 2016, McClellan–Palomar Airport.

JSX to launch seasonal flights to Monterey from Burbank and Orange County

JSX made this announcement:

JSX has announced that it will begin seasonal flights to Monterey from both Burbank and Orange County.

Hop-on service from Burbank and Orange County will commence on April 16 with daily roundtrip flights on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

JSX operates a fleet of 30-seat Embraer 135 and 145 aircraft daily from: Burbank (BUR), Las Vegas (LAS), Orange County (SNA), East Bay/Napa/Concord (CCR), Oakland (OAK), Seattle-Boeing Field (BFI) and Phoenix (PHX) and seasonal service to Mammoth Lakes (MMH) and Monterey (MRY). JSX is introducing service from its eighth destination, Portland, Oregon (PDX), on April 2.

JetSuite X rebrands as JSX

JetSuiteX today announced a new brand name and identity, JSX, logo, livery and new ad campaign that aim to define its innovative form of air travel as a “hop-on jet service.”

Now in its fourth year of operation, JSX’s mission to provide “Joyful, Simple Xperiences” continues to dramatically improve short haul air travel by offering publicly available charter flights on 30-seat jets from private terminals. Since its inception in 2016, the brand, led by entrepreneur and industry pioneer Alex Wilcox, has garnered a cult-like following among in-the-know travelers with its elevated and efficient service on short distance flights in highly desirable markets. JSX currently flies daily out of six airports: Burbank (BUR), Las Vegas (LAS), Orange County (SNA), Napa/Concord (CCR), Oakland (OAK), and Seattle-Boeing Field (BFI). JSX’s seventh destination, Phoenix (PHX), will launch later this month.

Wilcox, co-founder and CEO of the newly minted JSX, has long challenged paradigms in commercial aviation by spearheading early improvements such as all-leather economy seats with built-in LiveTV systems at JetBlue, where he was a founding executive. His decision to launch JSX came after witnessing increased demand for short-distance private flights at sister brand JetSuite. Intrigued by the investment customers were making in their most precious commodity, time, combined with the 30-percent decrease in capacity on flights under 500 miles by major carriers over the past decade, Wilcox set out to create a service where travelers could eliminate the traditional airport hassle and on-the-ground wait time for short-haul flights, saving up to two hours on each round trip. The brand made a new type of travel experience accessible to the everyday air traveler with fares starting from $89 each way.

Continuing this legacy of innovation and simplicity, the refreshed brand today debuts under a simplified moniker – JSX – while redefining its transportation category as “hop-on jet service” to more clearly articulate the niche it has carved in the industry. JSX offers a new way to travel that is effortless and enjoyable for more people.

Wylde’s firm, based in the Bay Area and Seattle, spearheaded the re-naming strategy and designed the new brand identity system. “The concept behind the new JSX logo was to craft a symbol that was elegant, timeless and confident, yet modern – representing the courage, innovation and accessibility of the brand,” said Wylde. “The X has connotations of flight, movement and precision – conveying the operational excellence and commitment to service that is inherent with the brand.”

San Francisco-based Eleven, Inc. was tasked with developing the brand strategy and positioning platform and creating and deploying a new ad campaign across multiple channels including digital advertising, out-of-home, and digital video.

While the look and feel of the brand, along with its name, have evolved, all of JSX’s most coveted attributes – the quick airport experience and the standard amenities traditionally reserved for business and first-class travelers – will remain. Every flight offers spacious, soundproofed interiors, complimentary premium cocktails, and at least 36 inches of legroom. Aircraft are currently equipped with power outlets at each row, and high-speed Wi-Fi is set to roll out across the full JSX fleet of Embraer 135 and 145 aircraft in 2020 — in partnership with SmartSky Networks, a new in-flight WiFi provider.

The new ad campaign, debuting across multiple digital channels today including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Kayak, illustrates the joyful experience of walking up, and hopping on, to an aircraft – something many modern-day travelers have never experienced. The video, created and shot by award-winning director Anton Visser, takes a cinematic approach to the time saving aspect of JSX through humorous vignettes of everyday people enjoying their extra time leading up to their flight. A two-hour video dubbed “The Longest Goodbye” will also soon debut on YouTube and shows the funny – and very ordinary – interaction of a couple using their two extra hours to say goodbye before a JSX flight.
