Palau Airways launches scheduled operations on May 6

Palau Airways (Palau) yesterday (May 6) launched scheduled passenger services between the island nation of Palau (Koror) and Taipei (Taoyuan). The first route will be operated four days a week with this Boeing 757-200.

According to the upstart, “the handsome logo design is inspired by local belief that Palau resides at the end of the rainbow. Palau evokes a youthful image, which is captured by the playful multi-colored arch”.

In Paluan, “Alii” means “hello” or “welcome”. The word “expresses friendliness and hospitality, and reflects Palau residents’ geniality towards each other, nature and visitors.”

TonleSap Airlines leases its first Boeing 737-700 from Astraeus

TonleSap Airlines (Phnom Penh) is a new Cambodian airline which launched scheduled passenger operations on January 21, 2011 with a single Boeing 737-300. The main routes currently connect Siem Reap with Taipei and Kaohsiung although it plans to add Hanoi and Seoul.

The name of the airline is derived from the Tonlé Sap which is a major lake and river system in Cambodia. It is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and is an ecological hot spot that was designated as a UNESCO biosphere in 1997.

Now the airline is planning to add its first Boeing 737-700, the pictured 737-7L9 G-STRN (msn 28007) from Astraeus Airlines. G-STRN is pictured departing from Manchester.
