Finnair cancels approximately 100 flights on July 2 due to industrial action –ย Customers are being contacted directly

The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has announced industrial action on Wednesday, July 2, at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. If the planned actions are implemented, they will impact all essential ground services related to Finnair flights.

Due to the planned industrial action, Finnair will have to cancel approximately 100 flights on Wednesday, July 2. These cancellations will affect the travel plans of roughly 7,000 customers.

Customers with bookings on July 2 will receive information from Finnair in case their flight is cancelled. Finnair will contact affected passengers once the cancellations are processed in the system starting today, June 30. After that, customers will receive a new routing based on the contact details in their booking. The information will also appear in the Manage Booking service and Finnairโ€™s mobile app. Depending on availability, the proposed new route can be changed via Manage Booking or Customer Service. Alternatively, customers may cancel their trip and request a refund for the ticket.

Finnair has allowed customers scheduled to travel on July 2 to change their flight date without additional charges, and thousands have taken advantage of this option.

The IAU has also announced industrial action on July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23. The potential impacts of these actions are still being assessed, so Finnairโ€™s Customer Service is unable to provide information about possible flight cancellations on those dates now. Finnair will notify affected customers directly of cancellations two days in advance.

Customers with bookings on 4 and 7 July are encouraged to change their travel date already now. Flights can be rescheduled to an earlier date or postponed until the end of September. The change can be made via Finnairโ€™s Manage Booking service if their ticket type allows changes. In other cases, changes can be made by contacting Finnair customer service or the travel agency that sold the tickets.  The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has also announced industrial action for 16, 18, 21, and 23 July. The impact of industrial action on these days is still being assessed, but is expected to be smaller than in early July.

Finnair apologises for the inconvenience and uncertainty caused by the situation and recommends checking the Finnair website for the latest travel updates at www.finnair.com/travelupdates

Qantas takes delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR

Hamburg, Germany, 30 June 2025 – Australia’s Qantas Airways is set to become the Asia-Pacific launch operator of the latest generation single aisle A321XLR following the delivery of its first aircraft from the Airbus assembly line in Finkenwerder, Hamburg.

Reflecting the long range capability of the A321XLR, the aircraft is flying from the Airbus facility to Sydney with just one crew rest stop in Bangkok.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, the Qantas A321XLR features a two class layout with 20 seats in Business Class and 177 in the main cabin. Qantas will initially operate the A321XLR on domestic services across Australia, with potential to open future new services on secondary routes to Asia.

Altogether the Qantas Group has ordered 40 A321XLRs under its fleet modernisation programme, with 28 aircraft allocated to Qantas and 12 to low cost subsidiary Jetstar. These are part of the airlineโ€™s outstanding orders with Airbus for 128 single aisle aircraft and 24 A350-1000 widebodies.

The A321XLR is the next evolutionary step of the A320neo Family, responding to market needs for more range and payload, creating even more flexibility and value for the airlines.

In typical airline service it offers the longest range of any single aisle aircraft – up to 4,700 nautical miles – and brings a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions of 30% compared with previous generation competitor aircraft. To date, Airbus has secured more than 500 orders for the type.

As with all Airbus aircraft, the A321XLR aircraft is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft capable of flying with up to 100% SAF by 2030.

BermudAir Launches AnguillAir: A Game-Changing Caribbean Expansion with Service to Anguilla

Bermudaโ€™s Airline Extends Island Hospitality to the Caribbean with Winter Flights from Boston and Baltimore

BermudAir today announced the launch of AnguillAir, a groundbreaking new brand and the airlineโ€™s first major expansion beyond Bermuda to Anguilla, a sister British Overseas Territory.

With flights to Anguilla from Boston and Baltimore beginning this December, AnguillAir signals a powerful new era in Caribbean connectivityโ€”one driven by BermudAirโ€™s signature island hospitality and its vision to link island communities in meaningful and lasting ways.

Launching December 19, 2025, BermudAir will offer flights from Boston and Baltimore, directly to Anguillaโ€”its first scheduled destination outside of Bermuda, and a first for the airlineโ€™s growing footprint in the Caribbean region.

โ€œThis is more than a new routeโ€”itโ€™s a reflection of what BermudAir was built to do: strengthen island connections, deliver extraordinary service, and create lasting economic value for Bermuda and beyond,โ€ said Adam Scott, Founder and CEO of BermudAir. โ€œWeโ€™re proud that, because of the support of Bermudians and the growth in tourism demand, we are now able to extend our reach and share our island hospitality with Anguilla.โ€

The new route comes after a year of consistent progress for the airline, which has played a key role in restoring air service, generating demand, and supporting Bermudaโ€™s tourism and economy in tangible figures. BermudAir has also opened new avenues of access for Bermudians, families, and businesses traveling to and from the U.S. East Coast and Canada.

Hon. Jose Vanterpool, Anguillaโ€™s Minister of Infrastructure, remarked, โ€œThe reopening of the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport marks a pivotal moment for Anguillaโ€™s economic future. Our agreement with BermudAir to launch nonstop service from the U.S. Northeast is a crucial first step. To support long-term, sustainable growth, we are pursuing a phased, demand-driven expansion plan, which includes extending the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and increased passenger and cargo volumes.โ€

Anguillaโ€™s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Cardigan Connor added, โ€œBermudAirโ€™s new direct flights from key U.S. markets โ€“ Boston and Baltimore โ€“ constitute a significant advancement for our tourism industry. As our accommodation offerings grow, reliable and convenient air access from these strategic gateways is essential to maintaining momentum and further developing Anguilla as a premier destinationโ€.
