Following the recent launch of services to Paris and Rome, Cyprus Airways intends to continue expanding its European network and develop further point-to-point tourism and business traffic whilst also increasing connectivity to Cypriot nationals.

The airline also intends to offer a network with year-round core scheduled services connecting the Island with main cities within a 1.5-hour range that can offer intra-network connectivity to/from Athens, Beirut and Tel Aviv and feeding to main European cities and its seasonal services to various Greek Islands.

The airline’s plans see it operating to 18 destinations next year and up to 30 destinations by 2026.

Cyprus Airways updates its livery

Cyprus Airways (2nd) has unveiled an updated livery for its two new Airbus A320 aircraft as part of its re-positioning and new strategic plan launched earlier this year. Two additional new Airbus A320 aircraft are expected to join the fleet early next year and will also carry this new livery.

The new branding develops the iconic green olive branch, part of the Cypriot flag, on the airline’s tail fin with the text ‘Cyprus Airways’ emblazoned across the side of the aircraft making sure the Cyprus brand is seen throughout Europe and beyond.

The main pastel colors were inspired by the mood board compiled to support the brand platform and help to convey the message of relaxation, tranquility, the beauty of Cypriot dawns and sunrises and the warm feeling of the sea that surrounds the Island.

The gold line emblem of a mouflon, a wild sheep found in Cyprus and also the Cypriot national symbol, has now been placed on the plane’s engines, showing the company’s heritage.

The first aircraft, painted with the new livery at PAD Aviation Technics GmbH in Germany, arrived at Larnaca International Airport last Friday and was greeted by a water arch and a host of guests including Civil Aviation executives and the airline’s shareholders and management.

The updated brand will support the airline’s new tagline; Cyprus Airways of Taking you Home,” added Mr Sies, “where home means we will take you safely to where your heart is”

Cyprus Airways notes positive growth for September 2022

Cyprus Airways announced today its traffic results for September 2022. During this month, the airline operated a total of 267 flights (Sep’21 – 148 flights) and carried a total of 34,868 passengers (Sep’21 – 9,570 passengers), registering a healthy Seat Load Factor (SLF) of 79% (Sep’21 – 50%). A further 108 flights were operated on an ACMI lease on behalf of an operator.

“These results confirm Cyprus Airways’ steady improvement. During Q3 (Jul-Sep ’22) we carried a total of 127,246 passengers and operated over 900 flights, with an average SLF of 79%. We clearly see that the market continues to steadily recover and at this rate we expect that next year we will reach and surpass our 2019 pre-Covid figures. During Q3 our most popular routes were to/from Athens, Beirut, Tel-Aviv and Yerevan and we have also registered a steady and healthy increase in average fares. This augurs well for further investments in our network and aircraft”, said Paul Sies, Chief Executive of the airline.

“We have already added aircraft worth over Eur50 million this year and now we are in a position to add two Airbus A320 aircraft to our fleet and as recently announced we intend to operate our Summer 23 schedule of which 11 destinations with at least 43 weekly scheduled flights are already on sale though our worldwide reservations systems, and several new destinations will be announced soon.

“We plan to continue building on the constant progress registered this year and invest to further strengthen our operation. In this regard we have just launched a recruitment drive for

First Officers, Captains and Cabin Crew members to join our team”, added Capt. Georgiou the airlines COO and accountable manager.

“We are committed to boost tourism demand and facilitate travel to and from the Island. We are proud to be the only airline in Cyprus serving the Cypriot market year-round. We are not an opportunistic carrier offering services only during peak months. As sole Cypriot Carrier we are here to stay working for the benefit of the Cypriot economy and its Tourism industry,” concluded Mr Sies.
