Merpati Nusantara Airlines AVIC MA60 crashes in Indonesia

Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Jakarta) has lost its MA60 PK-MZK today while operating a flight from Sorong to Kaimana in West Papua (New Guinea). The turboprop was attempting to land at Kaimana in the rain and fog and crashed into the sea on approach. All 21 passengers and six crew members have died in the crash. So far 15 bodies have been recovered.

Merpati Boeing 737-300 skids off the runway in West Papua

Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Jakarta) lost its ex-United Airlines Boeing 737-322 PK-MDE (msn 24660) on Tuesday (April 13). A routine domestic flight (flight MNA 836) in Indonesia ended in disaster Tuesday when the Boeing 737 carrying over 100 passengers broke apart on landing, injuring more than 70 people, officials said.

The Merpati Boeing 737 skidded off the end of the wet runway at Rendani Airport in Manokwari, West Papua, hurtled into trees and skidded into a shallow river according to this published report.

Merpati’s DHC-6 Twin Otter PK-NVC is missing

Merpati Nusantara Airlines’ (Jakarta) de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter PK-NVC (msn 626) is missing on a domestic flight in Papua (Indonesia) with 16 passengers and crew member on board. The passenger plane was reported missing yesterday (August 2) when it failed to arrive at Oksibil Airport (OKL) after a domestic flight from Jayapura (DJJ).
