Airbahn’s only Airbus A320 leaves Southern California

Airline Color Scheme - Imtroduced 2021

Airbahn (Irvine, CA) is an apparent non-starter.

On June 23, its only Airbus A320 (the pictured N786PB) departed from Ontario International Airport bound for Bangor, ME. It was leased from Airblue.

It is unclear if the aircraft will proceed back to Pakistan.

Airbahn was a planned U.S. airline that was founded by Tariq M. Chaudhary (who is also the CEO of Airblue).

The carrier planned to operate out of Southern California (probably Ontario), to destinations in California, Nevada and Canada.

The planned service was to have started in the second quarter of 2022. High fuel costs may have changed their plans.

As previously reported, due to Airbahn’s slow progress in the AOC process, the prospective airline asked for another extension.

The DOT disagreed and revoked the startup’s Transport Certificate on May 19, 2022.

The start-up has not issued any statement. Their website still states its is coming soon and is hiring!

Airbahn AOC is revoked by the DOT due to lack of progress

Department of Transportation (DOT) has revoked Airbahn’s AOC due to lack of progress in the final process.

The DOT gave the following reasons for this decision:

  • Airbahn has been in Phase 3 of FAA certification for over three years
  • Airbahn isn’t close completing safety certifications
  • Based on how long it has been, Airbahn employees already require recurrent training without the company having operated a single flight

As previously reported, Airbahn is a private prospective airline based at Irvine, CA and plans to operate within and between destinations in Western USA.

The upstart had big plans:

Airbahn is moving ahead towards the start of operations this summer

Airbahn is a private new airline launching very soon. It will be based at Irvine, CA and plans to operate within and between destinations in the Western USA.
The new airline is moving ahead with the FAA certification process.
It is targeting the start of operations before the summer season.
The airline’s first aircraft is the pictured Airbus A320-200 registered as N786PB in a Airblue-like livery.
Tariq Chaudhary is the CEO who is also the CEO of Airblue of Pakistan, hence the similarity.

Airbahn to fly from Southern California

Airbahn is a new private airline launching very soon with Airbus A320 Family aircraft. It will be based at Irvine, CA and plans to operate within and between destinations in Western USA.

Airbahn was established in February 2018 by Tariq M. Chaudhary, the CEO of Airblue of Pakistan.

The new U.S. airline is considering either a base at Long Beach (LGB) or Orange County (SNA).

N786PB (ex AP-EDA) has been spotted at Ontario, CA in an Airblue-like livery.
