China Eastern Airlines has announced it is joining forces with Hainan Communications Investment Holdings, Sanya Development Holdings, Juneyao Airlines and Ctrip Travel Network Technology to form a new airline despite COVID-19.

China Eastern will control 51 percent of the shares of Sanya International Airlines which will be based at Sanya Phoenix International Airport on the island of Hainan.
