Eurowings Discover starts its summer schedule, now flies to Victoria Falls

With the start of the summer flight schedule last Sunday, March 27, Eurowings Discover has added a number of attractive leisure destinations to its flight schedule.

For the first time, the young leisure airline also took off this week from its Munich hub to three long-haul destinations: Las Vegas, Punta Cana and Cancún. From now on, travelers can look forward to two weekly flights to each of these three dream destinations.

From Frankfurt, the young Lufthansa Group airline will fly to Panama City for the first time. The nonstop flight is offered three times a week from Frankfurt – all year round. This makes Eurowings Discover the only airline to offer a year-round direct connection between Germany and Panama City.

Two flights took off on Monday, March 28, bound for North America, to Las Vegas in the state of Nevada and to Fort Myers in Florida. From now on, there will be four flights a week from Frankfurt to Las Vegas, and three flights a week to Fort Myers all year round. Eurowings Discover offers the only direct connection between Germany and Fort Myers.

Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe is another very special destination in the flight schedule from Frankfurt. Three flights a week will fly passengers to Victoria Falls until mid-November, with a short stopover in Windhoek, Namibia. Eurowings Discover is the first European airline ever to offer direct flights to Victoria Falls.

In the course of this summer, more long-haul flights from Frankfurt will be added to the flight plan, including Malé (April 23), Calgary (May 23), Salt Lake City (May 23), Kilimanjaro (June 6), Halifax (June 13) and Anchorage (June 13). The airline is also expanding its short- and medium-haul program to North Africa, the Canary Islands, the Greek islands, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Turkey.

Eurowings Discover now serves Las Vegas

A new gateway to the U.S. casino metropolis of Las Vegas has opened up with the change to the summer flight schedule. Sunday, March 27, 2022, marked the first time a long-haul aircraft of the airline, which was founded last year, took off from Munich to the desert city in the U.S. state of Nevada.

The Airbus A330-300 took off from Munich on time at 12:45 p.m. with nearly 300 passengers on board for the 12-hour flight to McCarran Airport in Las Vegas.

The service from Munich to Las Vegas is offered on Fridays and Sundays. The wholly owned Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings Discover is introducing also other attractive long-haul holiday destinations from Munich.

In addition to Las Vegas, flights will also be available to Cancun in Mexico and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Eurowings Discover to fly to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in South Africa

Eurowings Discover, the new long-range leisure airline of the Lufthansa Group, will start a new route connecting the Frankfurt hub with the Kruger National Park in South Africa. The airline will fly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.

The new route will operate three days a week starting in November 2022.

Lufthansa announces its summer 2022 schedule, will add St. Louis

Those who are already thinking about next year’s vacation can now book a dream vacation from over 160 destinations from Frankfurt and Munich. Whether the choice is to the Canary Islands or to exotic far off destinations, the Lufthansa Airlines flight schedule has a lot to offer. That’s because the 2022 summer flight schedule, offers an expanded portfolio of attractive new destinations as well as frequency increases on current routes and the resumption of services, which are now available for booking. The number of intra-European connections from Frankfurt and Munich will again almost reach the 2019 level with around 5,000 weekly flights.

News from Munich

Lufthansa is strengthening its premium hub in Munich. With the start of the summer flight schedule on March 27, 2022, the airline will for the first time fly nonstop from the Bavarian capital to the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro and to San Diego in the United States. In addition, Bangkok in Thailand will again be served directly from Munich at the start of the summer flight schedule.

Lufthansa guests will be able to enjoy the Lufthansa Group’s most modern and economical long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, whose fleet in Munich is being expanded from 17 to 21 aircraft. In order to accelerate the modernization of its long-haul fleet, the Lufthansa Group signed leasing agreements for four additional Airbus A350-900s in the fall of 2021. These aircraft will be deployed by the core Lufthansa brand at its Munich hub, thus strengthening the premium offering there. In addition, five Airbus A340-600s with a First Class will be deployed again this summer.

In Europe, Lufthansa is offering six new vacation destinations from Munich. One of them: Kalamata in Greece. New destination in Spain: The island of Menorca. Also new: Varna on the Black Sea. Billund in Denmark and Bergen in Norway are new destinations in northern Europe. Starting in April, Air Dolomiti will also take in Brindisi in Italy.

Starting with the 2022 summer flight schedule, Eurowings Discover will also be taking off from Munich. The airline will fly to the sunny destinations in the Caribbean Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Cancún in Mexico. In addition, Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) will become a destination. Over the course of the summer flight schedule, Eurowings Discover’s flight plan also includes 22 short- and medium-haul tourist destinations, including the Canary Islands, destinations in Turkey and twelve Greek islands. The vacation airline is taking over the routes from Lufthansa as planned. New destinations include Samos and Skiathos in Greece.

New from Frankfurt

Lufthansa will fly to more destinations in the U.S. next year than ever before. A new addition will be St. Louis, (USA) in the U.S. state of Missouri for the first time from June 2022. This will be the first nonstop flight by an airline from continental Europe in around 20 years. The famous city on the Mississippi is home to numerous international companies.

Starting in the summer, Lufthansa will fly to Stavanger (Norway) and Liverpool (Great Britain) for the first time. And from May, the Breton capital Rennes (France).

Eurowings Discover will entice passengers with many attractive short-, medium- and long-haul destinations from Frankfurt in the summer of 2022: For North America fans, the flight schedule includes Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Fort Myers, Anchorage, Halifax and Calgary in addition to Tampa Bay. The airline’s current winter schedule will also include Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Panama City and Malé in the Maldives this summer. In addition to the 19 long-haul destinations, Eurowings Discover also has a varied tourist short- and medium-haul offering, including to nine Greek islands, the Canary Islands, Portugal and Turkey. As planned, the routes will be taken over by Lufthansa during the summer.

Special fan flights to the Soccer World Cup in Qatar

Lufthansa is temporarily offering a total of 25 special fan flights from Frankfurt to Doha (Qatar) between November 14, 2022, and December 19, 2022, on the occasion of the 2022 Soccer World Cup in Qatar. Up to five flights a week will be available. Lufthansa plans to operate an Airbus A340-300 using the flight number LH 620. These flights can be booked from December 16, 2021.

Eurowings Discover launches operations

New leisure carrier of the Lufthansa Group

Today (July 24) the new airline commenced operations. The first flight flew from Frankfurt (below) to Mombasa and on to Zanzibar.

This evening (July 24), Lufthansa Group’s newest airline Eurowings Discover left its parking position at Frankfurt Airport, departing on its inaugural flight (4Y134). Operated by an Airbus A330-200, passengers will be traveling from Frankfurt to Mombasa and, after a stopover of about one hour, continue onward to Zanzibar.

Eurowings Discover is the only European airline currently offering direct flights to Mombasa. The captain on the inaugural flight is Wolfgang Raebiger, who is also Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurowings Discover.

The Lufthansa Group’s new leisure airline has been granted its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the German Federal Aviation Authority on June 16 this year and will be commencing flight operations this summer as planned under the airline’s own flight code “4Y”.

High-quality product with many services included

For the first time ever, guests on board flight 4Y134 will have the opportunity to test the product and service of Eurowings Discover. The aircraft has a total of 270 seats, 22 of which are in Business Class (lie-flat seats). Over the next few months, all Eurowings Discover aircraft will gradually become equipped with up to 31 Premium Economy Class seats.

In all three classes, guests can look forward to a special, high-quality travel experience with all meals and non-alcoholic beverages included in the price. In Business Class, all beverages will be offered free of charge, while in the Premium Economy Class there will also be a complimentary selection of beer and wine. There is also a variety of Buy-on-Board offers from which travelers in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class can select additional snacks and alcoholic beverages.

Next to the culinary experience, Eurowings Discover also provides excellent entertainment onboard the flight to your vacation – completely free of charge in all classes. With their own screens, travelers can choose from over 50 movies, 80 TV programs, and numerous sound tracks. Another special feature on board Eurowings Discover: guests can quickly and easily connect to the Onboard-Cloud via their own device to receive an extended entertainment offer with a wide selection of magazines and over 50 cutting-edge games, gaming streams as well as an integrated gaming platform.

Further expansion of the flight schedule starting in August

In addition to the sunny destinations Mombasa and Zanzibar, Eurowings Discover will be flying to Punta Cana from August 9 and to Windhoek from August 10. On September 30, the airline will start operating from Frankfurt to Las Vegas and from October 1 to the dream island of Mauritius. Bridgetown (November 1), Cancún (November 1), Varadero (November 2) and Montego Bay (November 3) will also be added in the winter flight schedule.

The airline will also add attractive medium-haul routes to its portfolio starting in November 2021, with flights from Frankfurt to the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife, as well as to Hurghada and Marsa Alam in Egypt, and Marrakech in Morocco. From summer 2022 onwards, Eurowings Discover will also be operating short-, medium- and long-haul flights out of the Munich hub.

New leisure carrier of the Lufthansa Group

Eurowings Discover is the new leisure carrier of the Lufthansa Group. The first Airbus A330-200 now has titles in the basic Eurowings livery (above).

EW Discover GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Starting in the summer of 2021, the new airline will fly its guests to the most beautiful vacation destinations as Eurowings Discover: to the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, to South Africa and North America.
