HOUSTON, Sept. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Avelo Airlines, America’s ultra-convenient low-fare airline, today announced it has closed on a new round of significant growth capital to support its continued expansion across the United States and the Caribbean.

This financing round represents the single largest investment in Avelo Airlines since the company’s initial Series A funding. This investment from a new partner underscores strong confidence in Avelo’s differentiated business model and track record since the airline’s launch in 2021. The proceeds will be used to fund growth in its scheduled service operation, make targeted technology investments, and enhance the overall Customer experience.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Today marks another important milestone for Avelo. This new capital strengthens our liquidity position and positions us to continue delivering reliable, affordable travel options to millions of Customers who are underserved by other carriers. This investment comes at a pivotal time in the domestic airline industry and will allow Avelo to double down on an addressable market that is too often being priced out by higher fare airlines.”

Avelo recently closed the books on July, representing the company’s fourth fully allocated profit over the last five months, following approximately breakeven operating income in 2024 with no special items and no sale leaseback proceeds. Avelo’s core margins and cash position continue to improve organically, driven by revenue diversification initiatives and market maturation in our scheduled service operation. Later this year Avelo expects to launch a unique loyalty program, a co-branded credit card, and other third-party ancillary revenue initiatives that have proven value to airline profitability.

America’s Most Reliable and Convenient Airline
Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown nearly eight million Customers on more than 62,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 47 cities spanning 18 states and Puerto Rico, as well as three international destinations: Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying to primarily underserved communities across the country. Most Avelo routes include at least one small, convenient airport. This makes traveling with Avelo a smoother, easier, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion, and long walks at larger airports.

Avelo is distinguished by its industry-leading reliability. In 2024, Avelo ranked #1 in on-time performance and achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate in the U.S. airline industry. These results are provided by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company also utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking. Anuvu’s complete industry results and rankings are available at AveloAir.com.

Avelo also delivers world-class customer satisfaction, exemplified by our Net Promoter Scores (NPS), which consistently rank among the best airlines and most admired brands in the world.

Avelo offers a range of seating options. These include Standard, Stretch, and Stretch+ seating. Stretch provides extra legroom, with pitch ranging from 32 inches to over 36 inches. Stretch+ features a unique upgrade where the middle seat is blocked for added comfort and space. Customers can also purchase window and aisle seats in advance of their flight. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and a pet in the cabin.

Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.

Airbus commences limited share buyback to support future employee share ownership plan activities and equity-based compensation

1966 retrojet delivered on July 25, 2025 as PH-YHD. Transavia Netherlands has officially taken delivery of a special Airbus A321neo, registered PH-YHD, painted in a striking retro livery to commemorate the airlineโ€™s 60th anniversary. The aircraft landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on July 25, 2025, arriving from Hamburg Finkenwerder under flight number HV1965โ€”a symbolic nod to the year Transavia was founded. The retro design is a faithful homage to the airlineโ€™s original 1966 branding, created by Dutch designer Thijs Postma, who was present at Schiphol to witness the aircraftโ€™s arrival. The livery features the iconic green fuselage stripe, bold black โ€œTโ€ logo on the tail and forward fuselage, and a black-painted nose, echoing the look of Transaviaโ€™s early Douglas DC-6 fleet. Even the sharklets carry retro detailing visible from the cabin. After a ceremonial taxi tour across the airport, PH-YHD parked at stand D2, in full view of the Panorama Terrace for onlookers. Later that evening, it departed on its first commercial flight to Faro, Portugal as HV5357, returning to Amsterdam as HV5358. This aircraft is part of Transaviaโ€™s broader fleet renewal strategy, which involves replacing older Boeing 737s with quieter, more fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo and A321neo jets. The transition is expected to be completed by 2031, aligning with the airlineโ€™s sustainability goals.

Amsterdam, 8 September 2025 โ€“ Airbus SE (stock exchange symbol: AIR) is commencing a share buyback programme, for the purpose of supporting future employee share ownership plan activities and equity-based compensation plans. The programme will be executed in the open market over a period ending 16 January 2026 for up to a maximum number of 4,140,000 shares (with the maximum monetary amount being that required to acquire the targeted number of shares at prices fixed in compliance with the Delegated Regulation, and will be effected in one or more tranches).

Airbus has mandated an investment firm to manage the execution of the first tranche of the programme, which will comprise an amount up to a maximum of 2,070,000 shares, beginning on 8 September 2025 and ending no later than 31 October 2025. The investment firm will make its trading decisions concerning the timing of purchases independently of Airbus.

The programme will be carried out subject to market conditions and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including the Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on market abuse (โ€œEU Market Abuse Regulationโ€) and its Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 2016/1052 (the โ€œDelegated Regulationโ€).

The programme is undertaken pursuant to the authority granted by shareholders to the Airbus Board of Directors at the Airbus Annual General Meeting held on 15 April 2025, to repurchase up to a maximum of 10% of the Companyโ€™s issued share capital. The programme is intended to support the execution of future employee share ownership plan activities and equity-based compensation, while avoiding dilution of existing shareholders.

An elevated way to fly throughout your journey with Alaska

Guests on nonstop flights to Reykjavรญk and across our network will immediately notice Alaska’s upgraded onboard offerings as we continue investing in the 737 experience. These enhancements support Alaska’s evolution as a premium global carrier: growing faster, flying farther and delivering the elevated experience guests already know and love.

First Class just got better

Dining in First Class is getting a new, elevated look. This month we’re debuting a modern serveware collection inspired by the Pacific Northwest, designed to bring a new level of style and sophistication to the onboard experience.

The bespoke collection features a refined entrรฉe plate, elongated platter for chef-inspired presentations, textured stoneware bowl to hold hearty courses and a contemporary mug crafted for comfort in hand. Our new custom flatware set, featuring a brass-tone knife, fork and spoon with clean lines and a polished finish, adds modern sophistication to every meal. Complementing these are versatile side dishes, a brass-accent bowl for small bites and a sleek tray that ties the setting together. Many of the pieces were designed in partnership with Buzz, a global design company known for shaping signature travel moments.

Each item blends durability with style at 35,000 feet. Neutral tones and subtle textures showcase the food, while modern design details bring warmth to the table. Together, they signal a new chapter in Alaska’s commitment to elevating First Class dining. The new collection begins rolling out Sept. 24 across all flights.

Expanded First Class menu

We’re taking our First Class cuisine to new heights across our narrowbody fleet with even more elevated menu concepts, like our new Tahini Roasted Carrots with Green Goddess Yogurt Sauce and Citrus & Fennel with Chili Glaze โ€“ both made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Alaska continues to offer guests more meal options than any other U.S. airline, with up to five menu choices on select flights, including vegan and gluten-free meals.

Our newest menu launches on Sept. 24, including the JUST Egg Scramble, Spanish Carnitas Egg Scramble, and Brown Butter Pancakes for breakfast, or Moroccan Beef and Chili Shrimp with Black Rice for lunch and dinner.

Premium Class gets an upgrade

For the first time ever, Premium Class guests โ€” who already enjoy more legroom, complimentary drinks, and priority boarding โ€” will be able to choose from a specially curated snack basket. Our new Premium Snack Basket features high-quality ingredient snacks, sourced primarily from West Coast partners, including Solely, a San Diego-based clean foods company. Guests can also choose from new onboard products such as Jackson’s Kettle Cooked Chips, Thinsters chocolate chip cookies, Wonderful Pistachios and Hippeas Groovy White Cheddar Puffs. The Premium Snack Basket will be offered starting in early December on flights over 670 miles as part of Alaska’s premium travel experience.

We’ll continue to serve guest favorites โ€” Stellar Snacks Pretzels and Biscoff cookies โ€” as part of our complimentary snack and beverage service in the Main Cabin.

Upgrades for a consistent, modern experience

We’re investing in a fleetwide interior upgrade to create a more modern, more comfortable and more consistent onboard experience, including on our new route to Reykjavรญk, operated with the long-range 737-8 MAX. Alaska is refreshing nearly all 737 aircraft with updated bulkheads, cabin dividers, new leather seats, carpets, device holders and reserved overhead bin space for guests in our First Class & Premium Class cabins. On our 737-9 MAX and 737-900ER, Premium Class will grow from 24 to 30 seats, giving more guests access to extra legroom. Our 737-800 and 737-8 MAX will see First Class grow from 12 to 16 seats; guests will also enjoy more conveniently positioned power outlets and new USB-C charging ports for added comfort.

Enhanced loyalty and connectivity

Atmosโ„ข Rewards, Alaska’s upgraded loyalty program unifying the best of Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles, will provide members with more rewards, choice and global access than ever. Starting next year, Atmos Rewards members will enjoy free Wi-Fi thanks to T-Mobile on select flights as we begin to roll out ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi, with full fleet implementation by 2027.

For the first time ever, we’re offering Lounge passes to our credit cardholders. Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infiniteยฎ cardholders can rest and recover before they take off with eight passes each year to any of the Alaska Lounges in our network โ€“ a value of over $500. Each pass is valid for your entire travel day, so you can access multiple lounges along your journey and includes entry for up to two accompanying children. For existing Alaska Lounge members, these passes can be shared with family and friends. Through 2026, cardholders visiting our Lounges will enjoy an all-new premium bar experience, including our featured cocktails and exclusive curations. Each visit includes a complimentary drink, whether it’s our Summit Sunset cocktail or any selection from the new mixologist-curated bar menu.

Plus, the co-branded premium credit card with Bank of America also allows members to earn 1 status point for every $2 spent, helping them reach rewards faster. And in 2027, Alaska will open a new international Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport โ€” bigger, bolder and built to match our global growth. We also recently announced new daily, year-round service to London and will begin nonstop flights to Seoul Incheon on Sept. 12.
