Mint Airways shuts down and enters bankruptcy

Mint Airways (Mint Líneas Aéreas dba) (Madrid) yesterday (May 24) ceased all operations and entered into bankruptcy.

The charter airline issued the following statement:

“With great regret we have to inform that Mint Airways has filed today a Voluntary Insolvency Protection Process and consequently the Company is now under the corresponding rules according to the Spanish Law and subject to the authority of an external Administrator to be appointed by the Court during the following days.

The poor behavior of a depressed market over the last years is clearly behind the failure of Mint Líneas Aéreas to be able to sustain its activity, despite all efforts made in cost cutting and organizational improvement and rationalization. The company has always operated with a high degree of efficiency, professionalism and motivation but the lack of activity and the failure to incorporate a new investor which could make the company economically viable have led to this unfortunate announcement.”
