Garuda Indonesia unveils a special 80th Anniversary livery on PK-GFU

Garuda Indonesia has unveiled a striking special livery on its Boeing 737‑800 PK‑GFU to mark the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. The design, titled “The Flying Heritage of Indonesia’s Unity”, is the result of a collaboration with local fashion brand Cap Bali and two young Indonesian artists, Erika Richardo and Raka Jana.

On the forward fuselage, Erika Richardo’s “People with Culture” artwork depicts characters representing 16 different ethnic groups from across the archipelago, celebrating the nation’s diversity. Toward the rear, Raka Jana’s “Jejak Garuda” motif incorporates elements of Indonesia’s natural and cultural heritage — including orchids, traditional tenun sekomandi weaving patterns, and the kayonan (tree‑of‑life) symbol — woven into a flowing textile‑inspired design. The tail and aft fuselage also carry the official 80 Years of Independence logo, reinforcing the unity and progress theme of this year’s celebrations.

PK‑GFU debuted the livery on August 16, 2025 with a Jakarta–Samarinda flight, followed on August 17, 2025 by a themed “Special Flight” from Jakarta to Denpasar for Independence Day. Onboard, Garuda offered commemorative services and promotions, while the Cap Bali partnership extended to special discounts for passengers. The airline describes the project as both a celebration of connectivity across the archipelago and a visual narrative of Indonesia’s cultural richness, carried on the wings of its flag carrier
