easyJet launches easyJet holidays with a logo jet

Launched on November 28, 2019

easyJet has launched its own holiday arm amid concerns that the British public will be put off booking a trip with a company famed for its budget approach to air travel.
easyJet holidays went live on Thursday, November 28, 2019, selling packages to 5,000 hotels in more than 100 destinations, predominantly in Europe. Each booking comes with 23kg checked baggage per customer and transfers, where available.
For this reason the pictured easyJet A320 G-EZOA has received a special livery with “easyjet holidays” titles and special decals on the rear fuselage.
easyJet made this announcement:

easyJet on November 28 launched a new holiday business aimed at shaking up the sector with flexible, great-value holidays to handpicked hotels across Europe.

UK customers can book Europeโ€™s most loved hotels, together with any easyJet flight, on one platform. This will help to reduce the seven hours holidaymakers spend on average searching for a holiday, according to research by the new holiday company.

easyJet holidays will offer lots of peak-time holiday availability and more weekend flying than anyone else. All holiday bookings will include 23kg hold baggage per person, offering great value and extra ease, especially with families in mind, and beach holidays will also include a transfer.

The business has been built to overcome the things that frustrate travellers the most. This includes the amount of time spent looking for good deals (25%), the added expense of travelling at preferred times (21%) and the lack of flexibility with flight times and dates (17%).

easyJet holidays customers will benefit from ultimate flexibility and can choose exactly how many nights they wish to stay thanks to the strength of the easyJet fleet and its flying schedule. The airline has more than 330 aircraft flying up to 670 routes a day to beach and city locations, resulting in great-value holidays, no matter the duration or time of year.

easyJet holidays is directly contracting hotels for the first time, giving holidaymakers the choice of staying at handpicked hotels. The range of high-quality hotels has been carefully selected by experts, with bespoke collections carefully designed to suit every holiday type. The beach collections include โ€˜Luxuryโ€™, โ€˜Adultโ€™, โ€˜Familyโ€™ and โ€˜Undiscoveredโ€™, for authentic accommodation off the beaten track. For city breaks, the hotels will be highlighting โ€˜Luxuryโ€™ and โ€˜Boutiqueโ€™ collections. Customers can choose from over 5,000 hotels across more than 100 destinations.

The business has also introduced new technology to ensure a quick and seamless customer experience, including integration with easyJetโ€™s app and a completely new website. The new website also features advanced mapping technology, meaning customers can explore a city or resort or start to plan their trip before they book. Key points of interest and walking routes from chosen hotels are highlighted โ€“ together with new itinerary guides for a selection of cities โ€“ so that customers can start to make the most of their holiday before they travel.ย  The website will also feature TripAdvisor ratings, following research showing that holidaymakers trust these reviews over anything else (40%) when it comes to choosing which hotel to book. It will also use AI to learn and personalise the experience for customers.

Garry Wilson, Chief Executive of easyJet holidays, said: “easyJet has been a pioneer in transforming travel for almost 25 years and we want to bring that to the holidays sector.ย “We know the way people travel is continuously evolving; we know customers want flexibility on when and how they holiday; we know customers want flexibility on when and how they holiday; we know they want to be able to easily pick a hotel to suit their needs and we know they want a hassle-free booking process. Weโ€™re really excited to help meet these needs with the launch of our new modern and relevant holidays business.โ€

easyJet and Airbus sign hybrid and electric aircraft research agreement

easyJet, Europeโ€™s leading airline, and Airbus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to a joint research project on hybrid and electric aircraft.

The MoU is an important step towards furthering the industryโ€™s understanding of the operational and infrastructure opportunities and challenges of plug-in hybrid and full electric aircraft.

easyJet and Airbus will cooperate on three distinct work packages set to define the impacts and the requirements necessary for the large-scale introduction of next generation sustainable aircraft on infrastructure and every-day commercial aircraft operations.

Commenting on the partnership, Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, said:

โ€œeasyJet has aย long tradition of efficient flying and a long-term partnership with Airbus. Our priority is to continue to work on reducing our carbon footprint in the short-term while weย work to support the development of new technology, includingย hybrid-electric planes which promise toย radically reduce the carbon footprint of aviation.

โ€œI am therefore delighted to be working with Airbus onย a newย hybrid and electric planeย research partnership. The project will aim toย identify the detailed technical challenges and requirements for hybrid and electric planes when deployed for short haul flying around Europe so that we can help shape the technology and airline networks of the future. We hope this will be an important step towards making hybrid electric planes a reality.โ€

โ€œEnvironmental performance is a top-level priority for Airbus, and we are proud to have easyJet on board as a partner for our hybrid and electric aircraft research,โ€ said Guillaume Faury, Airbus Chief Executive Officer. โ€œAirbus is committed to meeting aviationโ€™s decarbonisation objectives. By focusing our research efforts on hybrid and electric propulsion technologies, we are doing just that โ€“ playing a leading role, alongside our customers, in the development of clean and safe technologies for the sustainable future of our industry.โ€

ย

This collaboration supports the work already underway with easyJet partner and US start-up company, Wright Electric, which will continue alongside the Airbus collaboration.

Wright Electric has set itself the challenge of building an all-electric commercial passenger jet capable of flying passengers across easyJetโ€™s UK and European network within a decade. It has commenced work on an electric engine that will power a nine seater aircraft. Wright Electric partner Axter Aerospace already has a two seater aircraft flying, and the larger aircraft is expected to start flying in the coming weeks. The prototype propulsion system for the nine-seat aircraft is four times more powerful than the system installed on the two-seat aircraft.

In addition to these initiatives, easyJet remains focused on operating its fleet as efficiently as possible using modern fuel efficient engines which are quieter and burn less fuel as well as carrying as many passengers as possible in the aircraft.

Pioneering has always been a core element of the airlineโ€™s strategy and since 2000 easyJet has reduced its carbon emissions per passenger per kilometre by over one-third (33.67%).

easyJet, has also announced today that it will become the worldโ€™s first major airline to operate net-zero carbon flights across its whole network. The airline will achieve this goal by offsetting the carbon emissions from the fuel used for all of its flights, starting today.

easyJet orders 12 more Airbus A320neo aircraft

easyJet currently operates over 1,000 routes with a fleet of 333 A320 Family aircraft (39 A320neo Family and 294 A320ceo Family) and serves over 155 European airports in over 30 countries. From its first A320 Family delivery in 2003, easyJet has grown to operate Europeโ€™s largest A320 Family fleet and is also Europeโ€™s largest customer for the NEO.

At the end of October 2019, the A320neo Family had received more than 7,000 firm orders from over 110 customers worldwide.

easyJet inaugurates a large CAE training center at Milan Malpensa Airport

By Marco Finelli reporting from Italy.

Near the airport of Milan Malpensa, the CAE Training Center was inaugurated on October 10 in the presence of easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren.

It is the third training center opened after those in London Gatwick and Manchester. It is located in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the World Trade Center at the Tornavento district built by Avioport BV, a Schipol Airport company.

The continuous qualification of the crews is a fundamental and essential element for flight safety. The need to open such a structure is due to the large number of based pilots at Milan Malpensa, the largest of the British budget carrier outside the United Kingdom.

In addition to the bases of Venice and Naples, in total, there are 34 aircraft based in Italy, which operate 500 daily operations and about 20 million passengers transported each year.

For this reason, Lundgren said “easyJet is the third largest carrier in terms of passenger volume among those operating in Italy, at Milan Malpensa wehave transported over 70 million passengers since the start of operations in 2006. Today there are 21 based aircraft”. He adds, “We need to qualify over 1400 pilots and flight attendants working with Italian contracts. In the last 10 years we have always invested with a long-term and sustainable approach to create value for all local stakeholders “.

Nick Leontidis – President of the CAE Aviation Training Solutions Group – expressed himself at the new CAE center in Milan Malpensa. With this new addition to its network, CAE will be able to train over 35,000 pilots of commercial flights in Europe, including more than 2000 pilots per year at the new CAE training center in Milan Malpensa โ€.

After the speeches of the representatives of the CAE and easyJet, the Councilor for transport of the Lombardy Region and then the Ambassador of Canada. Then the ribbon was cut and a simulator was programmed to perform a dance session to the rhythm of house music through its six axes. Following guests did simulation sessions with a 20 minutesflight each.
The CAE training center in Milan Malpensa is an avant-garde structure composed of modern training classrooms, dedicated spaces for briefing and subsequent debriefing with the most sophisticated technologies available on the market.

Currently three CAE7000XR full motion simulators have been installed, designed for the Airbus 320 family aircraft. They are equipped with the CAE Tropos 6000XR vision system. Next December a CAE600XR static simulator will be installed, equipped with the collimated CAE Tropos 6000XR visual system and an adjoining area dedicated to instructors. easyJet will be the first airline to train its pilots on the CAE 600XR, thanks to the use of a simulator with the highest accuracy available on the static training market.

EasyJet’s 10-year investment for the three centers run by CAE and over 170 million Canadian dollars with the supply of 10 full motion simulators, in addition to three FTDs. All the centers were opened in these ten days, first Gatwick, then Manchester and then Milan.

Each simulator works by performing 5 daily sessions of 4 hours each for a total of 20 hours total. Each session consists of an hour and a half of briefing before the flight, the 4 hours of flight and a subsequent hour of debriefing.
