Icelandair has announced it will increase the frequency of their seasonal flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Starting onย September 30, 2018 a sixth weekly flight will be added to Icelandairโs network and on October 3, 2018 the airline will begin daily service from MCO.

Icelandair (Keflavik) has announced the return of their international service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Iceland and beyond. Seasonal flights will begin on June 1, 2018 with four nonstop flights a week to Iceland on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and easy connections to and from more than 25 destinations in Europe.
Icelandair operates an exclusively Boeing fleet and service from San Francisco will be operated by one of Icelandairโs Boeing 767-300s, featuring three cabins of service, more legroom, in-flight entertainment, and gate-to-gate Wi-Fi.

Icelandair has announced the return of their international flights from Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) to Iceland and beyond.
Flight 642 will begin seasonal service on May 28, 2018ย with four nonstop flights a week to Iceland on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and easy connections to and from more than 25 destinations in Europe.
It has been over a decade since Icelandair ceased operations in BWI, but there has always been a strong demand and support for the airline to once again return to Charm City.
BWI service will be in addition to Icelandairโs ongoing flights from Washington-Dulles, and will increase the options when flying Internationally to and from the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

Icelandair on January 9, 2018 announced seasonal service to the heartland of America with flights from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) commencing onย May 25, 2018 from Keflavik.
Icelandairโs Kansas City service will offer three nonstop flights a week to Iceland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with easy connections to and from more than 25 destinations in Europe.
Icelandair has been in operation since 1937, and celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2017.

Icelandair is planning to drop the twice-weekly Keflavik – Birmingham (BHX) route on January 18, 2018 according to Airline Route.
Icelandair is making adjustments to its network. The aircraft freed up will allow the carrier to add more potentially lucrative routes. Previously on November 3, 2017,ย Icelandair launched year-round service from Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL), with flight FI529 departing at 1:05pm local time.
Icelandair offers service to and from Iceland through Icelandairโs hub at Keflavik International Airport serving 20 destinations in North America and more than 25 destinations in Scandinavia, the U.K., and Continental Europe.

Icelandair on November 3, 2017 launched year-round service from Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL), with flight # FI529 departing at 1:05pm. Icelandair CEO, Birkir Hรณlm Guรฐnason and Berlin Tegel COO, Elmar Kleinert, were at the gate to welcome the boarding passengers and help celebrate the new route. Icelandairโs new service will operate three flights a week (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays) between Reykjavik and Berlin with connections to and from 20 destinations inย North America.

Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) announced on February 15, 2017 that Icelandair is the first airline in Europe to install and operate with Scimitar Blended Winglets (SBW) on its Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Aviation Partners’ latest Winglet design, the Scimitar Blended Winglet, uses existing Blended Winglet technology but adds new aerodynamic Scimitar tips and a small outboard aerodynamic trailing edge wedge, further increasing the efficiency of the airplane.
A Retrofit enhancement to their current 757-200 Blended Winglets, Icelandair expects increased savings to block fuel, reduced engine maintenance, improved takeoff performance, and lower emissions, among other benefits.
The Scimitar Blended Winglet replaces the standard aluminum Blended Winglet tip with an aerodynamically optimized, scimitar-shaped tip cap. This helps provide the additional drag benefit over the standard Blended Winglet configuration.
The Scimitar Blended Winglet modification reduces Boeing 757-200 fuel burn by up to an additional 1.1% over the Blended Winglets alone; together they can reduce fuel burn by more than 6%.
Icelandair is currently working on their 4th Scimitar Blended Winglet modification and plan to have a total of 17 units in service before the 2017 summer season.

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) and Icelandair (Keflavik) have entered into a codeshare agreement and frequent flier partnership, which will give customers easier connections and more ways to earn benefits when flying between the U.S. and Europe.
With the new codeshare agreement, to take effect November 1 pending government approval, customers flying on Alaska Airlines and Icelandair will enjoy seamless reservations and ticketing, one-stop check-in, baggage checked to its final destination, coordinated flight schedules, the ability to earn miles and/or points on the reciprocal airline and consistent passenger service standards.
Elite-level members of each airline’s frequent flier program also will receive reciprocal club lounge benefits.
Icelandair operates flights from 16 cities in North America to Iceland with connections to more than 20 destinations in Europe, including Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London and Paris. Travelers can also enjoy an Icelandair stop-over to visit the city of Reykjavik and tour surrounding areas for up to seven nights at no additional airfare charge.
As an added benefit, starting October 1 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold and Gold 75K members will receive complimentary access to Icelandairโs Saga Lounge at Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik and Icelandair Saga Gold and Silver members will enjoy complimentary access to Alaska Board Room lounges in Seattle, Portland, Anchorage and Los Angeles.
Members of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan can begin earning miles on Icelandair starting October 1, and through December 15, 2015 the airline is offering double miles.* Miles flown will count toward elite status in Alaskaโs Mileage Plan. Members of Icelandairโs Saga Club can begin earning Saga Points for flights on Alaska starting October 1. Redemption for award travel will start later this year.
Icelandair has a long history of providing flights from the United States to Europe. The airline offers onboard Wi-Fi access, personal inflight entertainment, three cabins of service and two free checked bags for customers. Icelandair (Keflavik) hasย announced it will continue its expansion of their global network with new seasonal service from Montreal beginning May 19, 2016 . Flights from Pierre Trudeau International Airport will mark the arrival of the airline’s first gateway in the province of Quebec and the 16th destination in North America.
The airline will offer four flights a week through November 8, 2016 with departures on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The five-hour, nonstop flight to Icelandair’s hub at Keflavik International Airport also provides connections to more than 20 destinations in Europe , including Paris, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.
Following the commencement of Halifax in 1998, new gateways were launched including Toronto in 2008, Edmonton and Vancouver in 2014, and with this announcement, Montreal beginning in 2016.
