Cougar’s S-92 crashes off Newfoundland

Cougar Helicopters (St. John’s) lost a Sikorsky S-92 yesterday (March 12) with 16 passengers and two crew members on board. The helicopter was transporting workers to two offshore oil rigs when it reported a “technical malfunction” and was trying to return to St. John’s when it crashed into the rough seas approximately 40 miles southeast of St. John’s. One person was rescued, one was found dead and 16 are still missing.
