Zambezi Airlines (Lusaka) is leasing two Boeing 737-500s from GECAS in order to start daily international flights on May 12 from Lusaka to Johannesburg. The new privately-owned airline will also commence thrice-weekly service on the same day from Ndola to Johannesburg and Livingston-Johannesburg (three times weekly) on June 26. The new airline started operations in July 2008 with Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias operating domestic flights in Zambia from Lusaka to Ndola, Livingston, Kitwe and Chipata.
