Continental loses $213 m in 2Q, will cut 1,700

Continental Airlines (Houston) reported a second quarter net loss of $213 million. As a result the company will eliminate 1,700 management and clerical positions. As planned, CO will remove 29 less-efficient Boeing 737-300s and 737-500s by the end of December 2009.
