China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) is planning to lease 10 new Embraer ERJ 190s, a new type for the carrier. On January 10 Embraer confirmed sale of ten ERJ 190s to CDB Leasing Co., Ltd. (CLC) of China. The jets will be operated by China Southern Airlines, China’s largest airline. The aircraft will be used to develop new markets. The first delivery is expected for the second half of 2011.

China Southern has been an operator of Embraer’s ERJ 145 regional jet since 2004, with a fleet of six jets.
