American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) Boeing 777-200 on January 20 while departing from New York (JFK) heading southeast toward Brazil came within a mile of a formation of two U.S. Air Force C-17 transport aircraft according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) which is investigating the incident. TCAS alerted the AA crew and the crew took evasive action to avoid a collision.
