Thai Airways International (Bangkok) is proceeding with plans for a new full-service, short-haul subsidiary. Thai’s board has approved the new venture. The new airline, provisionally known as Thai Wing, will initially use five leased Boeing 737s and two other aircraft in the first year and aims to have a fleet of 11 within three years aircraft according to this report by Reuters. The new operation is expected to replace Thai’s current 11 Boeing 737-400s. The new airline is expected to be launched in early 2012.
