United Airlines’ and Continental Airlines’ pilots challenge the statement the merger is on track

United Airlines’ (Chicago) and Continental Airlines’ unionized pilots are challenging CEO Jeff Smisek’s assessment that integrating the two companies into a single Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 121 air operating certificate (AOC) is on track for the end of the year according to this report by Reuters.

Pilots from both airlines are picketing the annual shareholders meeting, saying that contract talks are not moving ahead.

Smisek said “any deal must be affordable and fair”.

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) represents more than 12,000 pilots at the two airlines.
