TAME’ Embraer ERJ 190-100 IGW HC-CEZ crash lands at Quito, four people injured

TAME (Quito) has lost its relatively new Embraer ERJ 190-100 IGW HC-CEZ (msn 19000027). On September 16, 2011 the pictured HC-CEZ while operating flight EQ 148 from Loja to Quito with 97 passengers and six crew members, landed long on Quito’s runway 35 in poor weather and exited the runway. HC-CEZ crashed through the localizer antenna and finally stopped at the airport perimeter wall approximately 900 feet past the end of the runway. Four people sustained minor injuries. The airliner is a probable insurance write off (WO).

The learning curve in order to run a Country or Flag Airline is steep. Despite some bright spots in our past, we really don´t know much about this business. Let us make our targets of good service to our compatriots is excellent by others and that strategic needs are met. Let us NOT INVITE failed foreign companies such Venezuelan and or Spanish airlines, or permit companies (such as in cellular-internet businesses) which monopolized strategic services by eliminating true COMPETITION.
Let us identify who our true friends are, but let us not not be naive.
We know enough about how NOT to run an airline. Let us do the right thing for Ecuador.
