United Airlines to add Doha, Qatar

United Airlines (Chicago) announced it will launch daily service between its Washington (Dulles) hub and Doha, Qatar, via Dubai, effective on May 1, 2012, subject to government approval.

Doha will be the fourth city in the Gulf region that United serves from Washington Dulles, in addition to Dubai, Kuwait City and Bahrain.

United will operate the new service with Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft, with a total of 269 seats – eight in United First, 40 in United Business and 221 in United Economy, including 104 Economy Plus seats with added legroom.

United will compete against Qatar Airways which already operates nonstop Dulles-Doha daily flights with Boeing 777-300 ERs.
