Dagestan Airlines is grounded

Dagestan Airlines (Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia) at midnight on December 16, 2011 the state airline lost its AOC and it was grounded due to excessive debts even though it was a state-owned carrier of Dagestan. At the time of the grounding, the airline was operating three Tupolev Tu-154Ms, a single Tu-154B-2s, two Tu-134Bs, an Antonov An-24RV and Mil Mi-8 and Mi-8MTV helicopters.

The company had also been operating as South East Airlines.

The Russian government intends to ground all Tupolev Tu-154s in the next two years. The aging fleet will be retired and replaced.
