Garuda Indonesia Airways (Jakarta) on February 2, 2012 received shareholder approval that approved the company’s Fleet Development Program for future expansion. The new proposal for the airline’s fleet development (deliveries through 2016) specified the number of additional aircraft as follows:
Boeing 737-800NG, from 10 units now increased to 20 units
Boeing 777-300 ER 10 units
Airbus A330-200 or other types of the Airbus family, from 6 units was increased to 24 units
Airbus A320 aircraft for Citilink, from 5 units increased to 25 units
Sub-100 seat type aircraft (to be determined), increased from 5 units to 18 units.
By 2015 Garuda will operate as many as 194 aircraft, consisting of twenty-four Airbus A330s, nine Boeing 777-300s, 85 737-800s, 50 Airbus A320s for Citilink, 25 sub-100 seat aircraft and three cargo freighters.
Previously, the Quantum Leap program had targeted a fleet growth to 154 aircraft by the end of 2015.
