Jetstar Japan to launch operations on July 3

Jetstar Japan (Tokyo-Narita) now expects take to the skies ahead of schedule on July 3, 2012, flying initially to five major Japanese cities.

The launch network will consist of Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka and Okinawa. These initial cities will be serviced by an initial fleet of three new Airbus A320 aircraft.

Jetstar Japan is a new low-fare airline that will fly domestically within Japan. Short-haul international flights are expected to start during 2013. The airline will initially have a fleet of three new Airbus A320s configured for 180 passengers. This fleet is expected to grow to 24 aircraft within the first few years. Jetstar Japan is a partnership between the QANTAS Group, Japan Airlines-JAL and Mitsubishi Corporation.
