United Airlines is retiring the last Boeing 747 today (November 7, 2017) from revenue service with a special “farewell flight”, flight UA 747, from San Francisco to Honolulu.
Flight US 747 is due to depart at 11:00 am (1100) local time from SFO bound for HNL. The last flights is expected to be operated with pictured Boeing 747-422 N118UA (msn 28811) (above).
Crews will wear 1970s uniforms and 1970s style service.
The last flight is a salute to UA’s Boeing 747-122 inaugural flight (flight UA 181, 0900 – 1105) on July 23, 1970 between SFO and HNL with N4703U named “William M. Allen”.
Continental Airlines operated their first Boeing 747-100 revenue flight on June 26, 1970, on the Chicago (O’Hare) – Los Angeles – Honolulu route.
