For a balanced sweet-and-savory start to the day, Goldfish will also now be offered. Later in the day, customers will continue to enjoy Goldfish and have the option of Tateโ€™s Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies and Petersonโ€™s savory and sweet snack mix. Customers will begin seeing these offerings on select flights in early October.

โ€œSmall details can make a meaningful difference in the travel experience, especially the familiar touches customers look forward to throughout their journey,โ€ said Americanโ€™s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. โ€œAs we looked at our snack offerings, we wanted to take the time to get this refresh right by listening to customer feedback and understanding what customers value most. This updated lineup brings together beloved favorites and new choices in a way that feels familiar, elevated and enjoyable.โ€

American Airlines, in collaboration with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), is launching its annual campaign to raise funds for innovative and lifesaving cancer research โ€” and is calling for support from customers.

The six-week campaign, โ€œLetโ€™s Go Further, Together,โ€ launches Aug. 13 and features award-winning actress Lily Collins, SU2C researchers and Americanโ€™s team members โ€” each with their own meaningful cancer story โ€” in a critical public service announcement about coming together to end cancer once and for all.

From Aug. 13. to Sept. 30, 2026, donors who give $25 or more to SU2C online at SU2C.org/AmericanAirlines will earn 25 AAdvantageยฎ bonus miles for every dollar donated. And thanks to the generous support of Mastercard, those who use their AAdvantageยฎ Mastercardยฎ credit card to donate between $25 and $10,000 online will receive 50 bonus miles for every dollar donated until Sept. 30, 2026, or when total qualifying donations reach $5 million, whichever comes first.*

In 2019, American unveiled a specially designed Airbus A321 aircraft featuring SU2C livery and the names of loved ones honored by customers and team members impacted by the disease. This powerful tribute is still flying today and serves as a constant reminder of those who inspire this mission every day.

American expands Pecan Lodge’s authentic Texas barbecue to more domestic flights from DFW

American Airlines announced:

Following the successful debut of Pecan Lodgeโ€™s barbecue platter and smoked brisket sandwich, American Airlines is expanding its partnership with the award-winning Texas barbecue restaurant. The popular First Class meal option will be available on all eligible domestic flights departing from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) beginning Sept. 9.

Customers can select Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the barbecue platter for dinner when available for preorder on eligible flights departing from DFW.

Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich

Pecan Lodge’s barbecue platter

But bringing an iconic Texas barbecue experience on board takes more than simply adding a menu item. It starts at Pecan Lodge’s restaurant in Dallas, where meats are seasoned and slow-smoked using the same techniques that have earned the restaurant national acclaim. The barbecue is then carefully packaged to preserve its flavor and quality, while American’s catering partners prepare each preordered entree for service in the air, ensuring customers can enjoy an authentic taste of Texas at 35,000 feet.

The expanded offering builds on American’s commitment to showcasing beloved regional brands and elevating the onboard dining experience. Pecan Lodge, nationally recognized for its Central Texas-style barbecue, has earned acclaim from The New York Times, Food Network, Travel + Leisure and more.

Beyond menu enhancements, American continues to invest in the entire inflight dining experience, offering the most elevated champagne selection among U.S. carriers, new California wines in premium cabins, premium Lavazza coffee on all mainline flights and an expanded selection of snacks available for purchase in Main Cabin.

American Airlines and Infinium announce commercial passenger flight powered by eSAF

American Airlines and Infinium today announced its first delivery of electro sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) to a commercial airport for use in a commercial passenger flight, marking a major milestone in the decarbonization of aviation. The eSAF was allocated to an American flight that departed Corpus Christi International Airport (CRP) and landed at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), demonstrating the real-world deployment of next-generation, drop-in sustainable aviation fuel.

The eSAF used for the flight was part of a batch produced and blended at Infiniumโ€™s Pathfinder facility in Corpus Christi, Texas โ€” the worldโ€™s first commercial-scale power-to-liquids eFuels production site, which has been operating since 2023. The eSAF batch was blended with conventional jet fuel and tested to meet the ASTM International specification for JetA, certifying its use in todayโ€™s aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure without further modification. It was then delivered to the common jet fuel tanks at CRP before being allocated to Americanโ€™s flight to DFW โ€” the first delivery of SAF made without biobased feedstocks to a commercial airport in the U.S. The flight demonstrates the compatibility of eSAF with existing aviation jet fuel supply chains.

Infiniumโ€™s eSAF is made using waste COโ‚‚ and renewable electricity, delivering a meaningful reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. Infiniumโ€™s eSAF can reduce lifecycle GHG emissions by over 90% compared to conventional petroleum-based jet fuel.

American Airlines, a leader in advancing sustainable aviation fuel adoption, is working across the value chain to accelerate deployment of low-carbon aviation solutions. The airline has an offtake agreement for commercial volumes of eSAF from Infiniumโ€™s Project Roadrunner, supported in part by a separate agreement with Citi to enable Scope 3 emissions reductions from employee travel. These partnerships reinforce the collaboration needed to scale next-generation fuels. Project Roadrunner, financed by Breakthrough Energy Catalyst and Brookfield Asset Management, with nonrecourse project debt from HSBC, is currently under construction and expected to begin eSAF production and deliveries in 2027. Once it reaches full capacity, Project Roadrunner is expected to produce over 5 million gallons of eSAF annually.

Aviation currently consumes nearly 100 billion gallons of jet fuel annually, with global air travel exceeding 4 billion passengers per year. Despite growing momentum, sustainable aviation fuel accounts for less than 1% of total jet fuel use worldwide. Scalable, drop-in fuels like eSAF offer one of the most near-term and practical solutions for reducing aviation emissions. Scaling eSAF also strengthens energy security by diversifying aviation fuel supply, helping create a more resilient system.

Todayโ€™s flight marks a transition from innovation to implementation, signaling a new phase in scaling viable, low-carbon alternatives to conventional jet fuel and advancing the future of sustainable flight.

American Airlines hosts 100 Vietnam War-era veterans for special Honor Flight

American Airlines, in collaboration with EAA Venture and Missions of Honor, hosted more than 100 Vietnam War-era veterans on a special Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight as part of the 73rd annual EAA AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Held annually during the worldโ€™s largest aviation celebration and air show, the honor flight serves as a tribute to Vietnam-era veterans and their service to our nation. This yearโ€™s flight took place on July 24 as part of AirVentureโ€™s salute to veterans.

The flight, donated by American and operated by an all-volunteer crew, was conducted aboard the airlineโ€™s Flagship Valor โ€” an Airbus A321 aircraft that serves as a tribute to those who have served in our nationโ€™s military and in particular, those who have received the prestigious Medal of Honor.

The Flagship Valor aircraft, an Airbus A321 featuring a special livery honoring Medal of Honor recipients, the nationโ€™s highest award for military valor.

The crowd welcomes the veterans, who received a proper heroesโ€™ arrival in Oshkosh.

Among the veterans on board was Army Command Sgt. Maj. Gary Littrell, a Medal of Honor recipient who spent more than two decades in service and received the nationโ€™s highest military honor for his leadership during a four-day siege in the Vietnam War.

The veterans flew from Oshkosh to Washington, D.C., where they received a proper heroesโ€™ arrival at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). During their visit, they toured several of the nationโ€™s military and historical landmarks, including Arlington National Cemetery, where they witnessed the Changing of the Guard, the Air Force Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Upon returning to Oshkosh, the veterans were welcomed home by thousands of air show attendees in a moving celebration honoring their service.

American Airlines: From booking to boarding: Giving customers more control throughout their journey

American Airlines announced:

American Airlines continues to invest in its digital tools, focused on creating a more connected travel experience by building capabilities across booking, airport, disruption management and day-of-travel support โ€” ultimately giving customers greater control throughout their journey.

Customers increasingly expect travel to be simple, intuitive and easy to manage, whether they’re booking a trip months in advance or navigating a change on the day of departure. That’s why American is introducing new digital enhancements designed to give customers more control throughout their journey:

  • Pay your way:ย Venmo is now available on aa.com, alongside expanded Apple Pay options, giving customers more flexibility when booking travel.
  • Recover from disruptions faster:ย New digital tools help customers understand delays, rebook trips and access resources faster.
  • Move through the airport faster:ย Customers can now more easily opt in to TSA PreCheckยฎTouchless ID, making the airport experience more seamless from check-in through security.

More ways to pay and book

Customers appreciate flexible, mobile-first payment options when booking travel, which has led to American recently introducing Venmo as a payment option on aa.com. American continues to enhance the digital booking experience with more flexible ways for customers to purchase travel.

The addition of Venmo reflects the growing adoption of digital wallets and alternative payment methods, particularly among customers who prefer to manage purchases directly from their mobile device. Venmo is now available on aa.com, with availability in the American app planned for the future.

American has also expanded digital payment options across the booking experience, including Apple Pay availability on additional purchase paths, helping customers complete purchases more quickly and with fewer steps.

Together, these enhancements make it easier for customers to plan and purchase travel on their terms, using the payment methods and digital experiences they already use every day.

Making disruptions easier to manage

When travel plans change, customers want more than updates โ€” they want clear information and actionable solutions. Rather than simply notifying customers about disruptions, American continues to invest in tools that help customers take immediate action and manage their journey directly from the app or aa.com.

The airline continues to enhance its digital disruption experience by providing customers with more detailed and transparent information during delays and cancellations through the app, email, text messaging and aa.com. These enhancements help customers understand what’s happening, why it’s happening and what options are available to them.

Customers can also access self-service rebooking tools directly through the digital disruption platform, along with hotel, meal and transportation resources when eligible, reducing the need to wait in line or call for assistance.

โ€œWhether customers are booking a trip, navigating the airport or managing an unexpected disruption, weโ€™re focused on providing tools that make the experience easier to understand, easier to manage and ultimately more enjoyable,โ€ said Garboden.

More recently, American introduced automated meal voucher functionality for AAdvantageยฎmembers, helping eligible travelers receive support more quickly during qualifying disruptions.

American is also expanding automation behind the scenes to remove additional steps during recovery. Eligible customers traveling on rebooked itineraries can now be automatically checked in after a disruption, helping them get back on track more quickly.

When travel doesn’t go as planned, American is focused on giving customers the information and tools they need to take action quickly and move forward with confidence.

Faster journeys at the airport

American’s investments extend beyond digital channels and into the airport journey. By extending digital convenience beyond booking and into the travel day, Touchless ID helps simplify another step of the travel journey, giving customers more control from planning through departure.

More than 2 million customers have already opted in to TSA PreCheckยฎ Touchless ID, helping make the airport experience faster and more convenient for eligible AAdvantageยฎ members. The technology provides a seamless way to verify identity at participating security checkpoints without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass.

Later next month, customers will also be able to opt in during the check-in experience on aa.com, making enrollment even more convenient. The program is now available at all American hub airports and dozens of additional locations across the network.

Together with enhancements across booking, check-in and disruption management, Touchless ID helps simplify another step of the travel journey, giving customers more control from planning through departure.

Building a more connected journey

Travel isn’t defined by a single moment โ€” it’s a series of decisions and interactions before, during and after a trip.

Trips of a lifetime can often include American and one of its worldwide partners. Technology is most valuable when it helps customers spend less time managing travel and more time enjoying it. The airline continues to introduce enhancements to make travel more intuitive and easier to navigate. When travelers are connecting between American and select partner airlines, they can now check-in and receive boarding passes for all segments directly through Americanโ€™s mobile app on select itineraries.

These enhancements are part of American’s broader effort to create a more connected travel experience โ€” one that gives customers greater visibility, flexibility and control from booking through arrival. As customer expectations continue to evolve, American will continue investing in digital tools that make travel easier to navigate and more personalized at every stage of the journey.

The exclusive space will feature a private check-in environment, individual assistance from American team members and convenient access to security screening, allowing customers to easily make their way from curb to gate. The experience builds on the premium service offered through Flagshipยฎcheck-in locations at select American hubs around the world.

A new lounge destination for premium travelers

Inspired by the warm hospitality and local character that define American’s newest lounges, the new Admirals Clubยฎ lounge in Terminal C will provide customers with a welcoming retreat in the heart of DFW. Conveniently located near the Terminal C Skylink station, the lounge will offer 37,000 square feet for customers to recharge and refuel before their flight. This new space will be the largest Admirals Clubยฎ lounge in Americanโ€™s network.

Thoughtfully designed with a variety of seating options, premium amenities and dedicated areas for work and relaxation, the lounge will serve as a modern home away from home for travelers connecting through American’s largest hub.

Customers visiting the new lounge will also enjoy many of the enhancements recently introduced across American’s Admirals Clubยฎ network, including:

  • Chef-inspired menu offerings
  • Expanded all-day food selections, including an elevated selection of charcuterie
  • Premium beverage program featuring specialty cocktails, spirits, wines and local favorites, alongside signature offerings such as Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee

These investments build on American’s ongoing commitment to elevating the lounge experience, giving customers more fresh, flavorful and high-quality dining options throughout their journey. Together with its convenient location and modern design, the new Admirals Clubยฎ lounge will offer a distinctly premium experience that reflects the airline’s continued investment in customer comfort, hospitality and choice at DFW.

Provisions by Admirals Club space for travelers on the go

American Airlines will bring a Provisions by Admirals Clubโ„  lounge to DFWโ€™s future Terminal F, offering travelers a fast and convenient grab-and-go option as part of the terminalโ€™s initial phase.

The Provisions by Admirals Clubโ„  lounge will feature a curated selection of fresh food, premium beverages and travel essentials in a streamlined setting designed for customers who want high-quality options while on the move.

This space will serve as the first-phase lounge offering in Terminal F โ€” and the first of Americanโ€™s suite of premium offerings planned for the new terminal. American will share details about future phases as plans continue to develop. Introducing a Provisions by Admirals Clubโ„  space in Terminal F reflects Americanโ€™s commitment to delivering more choice, convenience and premium experiences throughout the customer journey.

Investing in Americanโ€™s largest hub

DFW is the engine that powers American’s global network, connecting more customers and more checked bags every day than any other airport in the airline’s system. As American’s hometown hub, DFW serves as the airlineโ€™s largest operation, with more than 930 peak daily departures and more than 30% of the airline’s daily connecting customers and connecting checked bags, giving it an outsized impact on the travel experience across the network.

Americanโ€™s continued investments at DFW, including the new 13-bank structure, electronic boarding gates and new route announcements, ensure the airport evolves alongside growing demand for premium travel. From an enhanced arrival experience through Flagshipยฎ check-in to new lounge offerings that provide greater comfort, convenience and choice, these investments are designed to elevate the journey for the millions of customers who begin, end or connect through American’s largest hub each year.

American Airlines Tulsa base maintenance facility celebrates 80 years of excellence

American Airlines announced:

For eight decades, the American Airlines base maintenance facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa), has stood at the center of the airlineโ€™s technical operations, evolving into the worldโ€™s largest commercial aircraft maintenance base and a cornerstone of the airlineโ€™s commitment to safety and reliability.

Aerial photo of the surplus military aircraft plant in early 1946.

Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa team members working in the propeller shop in 1947.

It all started in 1945 when the U.S. government listed a military aircraft plant as surplus property. The property, with four large hangars anchoring more than 260 acres, caught the eye of Americanโ€™s leaders who soon negotiated a lease with the City of Tulsa and began relocating its maintenance and engineering operations from New Yorkโ€™s La Guardia airport to the new Tulsa facility. The move reflected Americanโ€™s growth and Tulsaโ€™s emergence as a major aviation and aerospace hub, bolstered by a skilled local workforce, which still holds true today.

The maintenance base opened in June 1946, and started overhauling Douglas DC-3 aircraft. Americanโ€™s then CEO and industry pioneer Cyrus Rowlett โ€œC.R.โ€ Smith celebrated the facilityโ€™s opening with an eye toward the future.

โ€œWe plan to become citizens of Tulsa and Oklahoma,โ€ Smith said. โ€œWe plan a great expansion and development in this city and this state. Our future is ahead of us. We are looking forward.โ€

Over the years, almost every aircraft type flown by American passed through Tulsaโ€™s hangars. Early propeller-powered models such as the DC-3 and Convair 240 soon made way for turbofan engines powering Boeing 707s. Boeing 727s and 747s and the McDonnell-Douglas DC-10s and legendary MD-80s later occupied hangars. Modern Boeing 737 and 787 families of aircraft touch down at the base for scheduled maintenance work today.

Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa, which is currently undergoing $400 million in improvements, has grown to 3.3 million square feet of hangar and shop space sprawling across 330 acres at Tulsa International Airport. Together with the airlineโ€™s nearby offsite composite repair and wheel and brake facilities, these technical centers of excellence provide maintenance and related support to more than 400 aircraft that visit the base annually.

The source of the baseโ€™s success โ€” and the standard set for the industry โ€” is the people. Today, nearly 5,000 team members (including more than 2,300 licensed aviation maintenance technicians) work in aircraft overhaul, component repair, engine overhaul, engineering, supply chain, facilities maintenance and information technology, to keep Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa moving 24/7. And theyโ€™re not just individual team members โ€” the base has familial roots with generations of families working at the base over the decades.

The Flagship San Francisco, a Douglas DC-3, leaves the hangar July 17, 1946, after undergoing the first aircraft overhaul at Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa.

Eighty years after the maintenance base opened, the airline continues looking forward to welcoming the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals through its hangar doors. In 2024, American announced a partnership with Tulsa Tech โ€” the alma mater of many current Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa Team members โ€” providing interviews to top students and ongoing engagement opportunities with the airlineโ€™s team members, formalizing a decades-long relationship with the school. American also sponsored Tulsa Techโ€™s adult student team at the 2026 Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition. Tech Ops โ€“ Tulsa team members mentored students leading up to the competition, and that partnership paid off โ€”  the team took first place among all 47 schools.
