We remember and mourn those who were lost in the tragic events of 9/11, including 23 members of the American Airlines family. Our airline, industry, country and world were forever changed. We will never forget the events of that day.

We honor the extraordinary courage, compassion and selflessness demonstrated in the face of unimaginable tragedy. From team members who remained steadfast in their commitment to care for others on that morning, to those who supported families and communities in the days that followed, we’re thankful to our team for showing remarkable care for others in a time of great grief.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, several team members who played a role in helping American move forward reflected on the lessons that continue to guide us, particularly the importance of coming together to care for our customers and team members.
