The C909 designation represents the official rebrand of COMAC’s twin-engine ARJ21-700 regional airliner, a structural update introduced by the state-owned manufacturer to bring its regional jet lineup into a cohesive naming convention alongside the narrowbody C919 and widebody C929 programs.
This landmark order represents a major geopolitical and commercial victory for COMAC as it seeks to export its commercial aviation lineup across Southeast Asia and break the historic regional dominance of Western aircraft manufacturers.
