Sol Lรญneas Aรฉreasย (Rosario) flight 8R 5428ย operatingย fromย Cรณrdobatoย Comodoro Rivadaviaย toย Mendozaย andย Neuquรฉn crashed on May 18. The flight wasย operated with SAABย ย 340A with theย registration of LV-CEJ (msn 025). The flight crashed in bad weather in a remote areaย inย Prahuaniyeu,ย 16ย miles southwest of the town ofย Los Menucos,ย Rรญo Negro,ย Argentina. All 19 passengers and three crew members died in the crash.
The flight crew declared an emergency at 8:50 PM (GMT-3) local time. The turboprop crashed and burned in rough terrain.
