Transaero Airlines switches to Airbus, signs MOU for eight A320neo aircraft

Transaero Airlines (Moscow), a long-time Boeing customer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for eight Airbus A320neo aircraft. It also secured four options. Airbus believes Transaero is also a potential customer for the A380 as it operates Boeing 747s.

Transaero Airlines produces a first half profit of $4 million

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) has reported a first half net profit of nearly $4 million, up six percent.

In other news, the second largest Russian airline which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has added a former Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400 which brings its fleet up to 65 aircraft.

Transaero Airlines to acquire 11 additional high capacity Boeing 747-400s and four 777-300s in the next two years

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) added Boeing 747-4F6 VQ-BHX (msn 28960) on December 20 in a 521-seat (12/509) high capacity configuration. The company is planning to add 11 additional high capacity 747-400s and four Boeing 777-300s (from Singapore Airlines) in the next two years.

Transaero Airlines is coming to New York and Miami

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) is launching nonstop service from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport and Miami International Airport to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport. The airline will become the only carrier offering a nonstop service from Miami to Russia. The service for both routes is scheduled to start in October, three times per week for the New York route and twice per week for the Miami route.

For the New York route, the airline will operate a Boeing 747-400 with a capacity of 352 passengers configured into Business, Premium Economy and Economy Classes. Business Class passengers will enjoy 11 extra-wide seats that easily transform into comfortable lie-flat beds as well as a generous selection of food and beverage. 56 Premium Economy Class seats feature a 52-inch pitch for more personal space, and food and beverage options close to Business Class standards. Economy Class consists of 285 seats and comes with Transaero’s recognized excellence of service as well as competitive pricing. The flight time on this state-of the-art aircraft will be reduced by approximately one hour, making it the fastest flight from Russia of the Boeing 747-400s arriving to JFK.

Starting October 29, 2010, flight UN2222 will depart JFK every Wednesday at 2:00 pm local time and arrive in Moscow at 6:50 am local time, the following day. Flight UN1111 will depart Domodedovo International Airport (DME) at 10:45 am local time and arrive at New York’s JFK at 12:15 pm local time.

Flight UN4444 will depart New York on Fridays and Sundays at 9:15 pm and arrive in Moscow at 2:05 pm the following day. Flight UN3333 will depart DME at 6:00 pm and arrive at JFK at 7:30 pm.

With the launch of its Miami route, Transaero becomes the only carrier to offer non-stop service between Moscow and Miami. The carrier will operate Boeing 777 aircraft with a seating capacity of 306 passengers in four class configurations including Imperial Class for 12 passengers, Business Class for 14 passengers as well as two Economy Class sections, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. The Economy Class sections have a combined seating capacity of 280 passengers.

Flight UN888 will depart Miami International Airport (MIA) each Wednesday and Saturday at 4:20 p.m and arrive at Domodedovo International Airport (DME) at 11:10 a.m. Return flight UN999 will depart Moscow at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Miami at 2:50 p.m. All departures and arrivals provided in local times.

Transaero Airlines is the second-largest passenger air carrier in Russia. Transaero launched its services in November, 1991. The Transaero’s fleet consists of 55 aircraft, including twelve Boeing 747s, seven Boeing 777s, twelve Boeing 767s, twenty-one Boeing 737s and three Tupolev 214s. It is the only carrier flying Boeing 777 and Boeing 747 passenger aircraft in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

Transaero Airlines to lease a Boeing 777-200 from ALAFCO for 96 months

Transaero Airlines to fly to New York and Miami, will add 14 Boeing 777-200s and nine 747-400s

Transaero Airlines (Moscow-Domodedovo) is planning to add new scheduled service to both New York and Miami in the fall according to the Moscow Times. The Miami service will be operated twice-weekly with Boeing 747-400s starting on October 29.

The company is also planning to acquire 14 ex-Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-200s and nine ex-JAL Boeing 747-400s in a major fleet expansion. Transaero does not currently fly to the United States.
