Southwest Airlines’ (Dallas) winning streak for quarterly profits came to an abrupt end today with the announcement of a $91 million net loss in the first quarter through March 31. This amount included non-cash mark-to-market special charges of $71 million related to the company’s fuel hedge portfolio. WN produced a net profit of $34 million in the same quarter a year ago.
