Air France (Paris) pilots’ union has concluded that faulty Thales air speed sensors (pitot tubes) were the main cause of an Air France Airbus A330 crash (AF 447) over the Atlantic Ocean on June 1. According to France’s Journal du Dimanche, the pilots’ union report primarily blames the plane’s manufacturer Airbus, Air France, civil aviation authorities and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for neglecting problems with air speed sensors, which have been known to Airbus authorities since at least 2001.
