Air Jamaica (Kingston) is being courted by Spirit Airlines as a possible takeover target. However the group Mayday Air Jamaica opposes the takeover and is threatening to picket Air Jamaica at Miami on December 15.

Thank you for the comment. I think the newly organized opposition may stir up some national pride that may yet save the flag carrier. The takeover is still not approved. Spirit would probably still retain the JM brand if they are successful in the acquisition.
Hopefully something will turn in favor for the Jamaicans.
