UAL Corporation loses $1.1 billion in 2009

UAL Corporation (United Airlines) (Chicago) reported results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009 and 2009. The company:

Reported a fourth quarter net loss of $176 million, excluding non-cash, net mark-to-market hedge gains and certain accounting charges as outlined in note 6 of the attached statement of consolidated operations, narrowing its net loss by $391 million compared to the fourth quarter of 2008. The company reported a GAAP net loss of $240 million.
Reported a full year 2009 net loss of $1.1 billion, excluding non-cash, net mark-to-market hedge gains and certain accounting charges, an improvement of $645 million compared to the full year 2008. The company reported a full year 2009 GAAP net loss of $651 million, an improvement of $4.7 billion compared to full year 2008.
