Continental Airlines (Houston) will begin nonstop flights between its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (PAP), on June 9, 2011, subject to government approval.
Initially flights will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, converting to daily service on July 1, 2011.
The approximately four-hour flight (CO 703) will depart Newark at 9:25 a.m. (0925), arriving in Port-Au-Prince at 12:15 p.m. (1215). The return flight (CO 704) will depart Port-Au-Prince at 1:20 p.m. (1320), arriving in Newark at 6:15 p.m. (1815). Continental will utilize a Boeing 737-800 for the new service, with seating for 160 passengers (16 in first class and 144 in economy).
