The Battle for New York: Is Delta winning the battle?

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) is close to finalizing another slot swap attempt with US Airways. If approved, Delta could take over about half of the slots at New York’s LaGuardia Airport according to this article by Bloomberg in the San Francisco Chronicle. If successful, the swap would give Delta an advantage over American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) and other U.S. carriers in the world’s busiest aviation market, especially for the high-yield markets.

Delta may double its daily LaGuardia departures under a proposed trade agreement giving DL most of the slots held by US Airways (Phoenix). A final agreement could come within weeks.
