Delta Air Lines MD-88 N941DL makes a hard land at Atlanta, sparking a fire, 4 injured

Delta Air Lines’ (Atlanta) McDonnell Douglas MD-88 N941DL (msn 49814) operating flight DL 2284 from Pittsburgh to Atlanta caught fire during a hard landing yesterday afternoon (May 28) at ATL.

Four passengers suffered minor injuries according to the AP. They were not transported to a hospital. Passengers and crew were evacuated through the rear stairs. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

According to the AP, FAA spokesperson Kathleen Bergen said the MD-88 jet suffered either a blown tire, or a locked brake or perhaps both, which caused the fire.
