Will “Scoot” be the name of Singapore’s new low-fare subsidiary?

Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-212 ER 9V-SVJ (msn 32335) AMS (Ton Jochems), originally uploaded by Airliners Gallery.

Singapore Airlines’ (Singapore) New Aviation subsidiary has registered the name “Scoot” with the Intellectual Property Office in Singapore according to this report by the Straits Times. The new subsidiary will launch no-frills, low-fare operations with Boeing 777-200s in 2012.
