American Airlines to cut capacity in the fourth quarter

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) according to this reported by the Associated Press is reducing midweek and Saturday flights and will further cutting its capacity in the fourth quarter because of the weak economy and an uptick in pilot retirements.

The reduction is about 4 percent on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday flights which began in late August. The company announced it will trim fourth-quarter capacity by 0.5 percent from previous plans.
