American wants to drop the leases on 24 MD-80s

American Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-9-82 (MD-82) N73444 (msn 49470) (Working Together) BWI (Brian McDonough), originally uploaded by Airliners Gallery.

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) has petitioned the bankruptcy court to shed the leases on 24 McDonnell Douglas DC-82/83s, most of which are already in storage.
