What is the future of Air Zimbabwe?

Air Zimbabwe’s (Harare) future hangs in the balance. Many are calling for the debt-ridden national carrier to be declared bankrupt.

This pictured Boeing 767-200 was impounded at London (Gatwick) on December 12 due to the $1.2 million owed to American General Supplies. The long-range airliner has now been freed after the debt was paid and it arrived at Harare yesterday (December 25).

Flights to Johannesburg were suspended on December 16. The flights were suspended due to threats by ground handling company, Bid Air Services, to seize Air Zimbabwe aircraft due to unpaid $500,000 in service bills.
