US Airways considers a bid for American Airlines

US Airways Boeing 767-2B7 N256AY (msn 26847) CLT (Bruce Drum), originally uploaded by Airliners Gallery.

US Airways (Phoenix) is considering a bid for bankrupt American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) according to the Wall Street Journal and this report by azcentral.com.

Any attempt by Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) to acquire American Airlines would probably have a difficult approval process due to its current size after its merger with Northwest Airlines-NWA (Minneapolis/St. Paul).
